I have had 2 c sections and the recovery wasn't that bad. I was sore for a couple of weeks. Really try to take it easy like they tell you, trust me. If you think that you are fine and over do it you will pay for it later. My second c section recovery was worse than the first because I was awake for the surgery and I was not relaxed at all (my first was an emergency c section). Expect to feel a lot of tugging and pulling during the c section. You may get sick to your stomach too. If you can get someone to stay and help you out for a week at least it would be great, because you cannot lift anything, drive, you are not supposed to do stairs etc. I hope that things go really smoothly for you! By the way my c sections were for twin births, so quite different from single c section.

My first baby 6 yrs ago was a emergency C-section, going through the pain of labor then having my stomach muscles cut that was a hard recovery. With my second baby, 4 yrs ago she was a planned C-section with her I made my self get up and around, cause if you don't right away you will have a slow recovery. Yes just like alot of others have told you, you will move around slower, you have more limits with a C-section. When you go home, you won't be able to lift or carry anything heavier than your baby so you don't rip open your C-section. For me it was pretty hard getting in and out of a water bed so I had to sleep on the couch. If you nurse your baby it will help heal you too, ask your doctor about that! All in all if you don't over due your self, and keep walking around you should be just fine! About 6-8 weeks after you have your baby I would highly suggest exercising, cause if you don't it will stay flab and that sucks! It depends on how you can tolerate pain too, it might not be a breeze like others are telling you. All women are different. Good luck to you and your family!!!!

I've had 3 sections so I can not tell you how it compares to giving vaginal birth. The recovery is a lot harder though. You will be amazed at how simple the c-section is. When you hold your beautiful baby you will forget about the pain. In about six weeks after, you will start to feel almost normal again. A small price to pay for having a healthy baby. Oh and by the way do not let the Dr try to turn your child so that you can give birth vaginally. It is too dangerous. You'll do just fine!

Well, you won't be able to bend down. You have someone to put your shoes on for you? They cut through muscle so it does take a while to really recover. It hurts to laugh, which my husband and mother loved to make me do when I was recovering. You have to wait longer to exercise, about 6 weeks is recommend. It's really not that bad. I was scared but my son was 10 lbs and stuck, I didn't have a choice. There is still a chance your little one will flip around. Don't worry though, they know what they're doing. Oh, and during, you'll pressure and sometimes with the amount of pressure it hurts but I imagine a natural birth is more painful.

I had a c-section on March 1, 2006. It wasn't that bad. It hurt some until they removed my staples. The hardest things was coughing, sneezing, riding in a car, and getting out of the bed for the first week. After that it got easier. Just make sure that you try and walk upright, not slumped over. And as soon as you can get out of the bed and move. It is going to hurt at first but it is worth it in the end.

Relax. Really, it's not that bad. I had two c-sections. Didn't feel a thing during the surgery, I only wish I wasn't so groggy. And after I had a morphine drip for the first night and there was very mild pain. It really just feels like severe muscle soreness. I was given a combination of vicoden (sp?) and ibuprofen for the pain, and it was quite effective. I was walking around (slowly) the next day. Don't worry!

also had 2 sections agree with everyone else they are a cake walk. was up and moving in 24 hours with mild pain the best pain meds is 800 milligrams ibuprofen of course ask a nurse or doctor when the time comes but that worked better than the strongest pain meds due to the surgery

I never had one but my sister did and we were pregnant together and her recovery was about the same as mine, she just had a little more limits is all. And getting back your sex life was easier for her then me because well It's weird having sex where a baby came out. Lol.

You cannot go by other women's experiences.. You must wait and see how YOU recover. I had a c-section and my stomach was flat afterwards, as if I had a tummy tuck.., I was up and about in three days and experienced no pain. Others, will claim that their experiences were painful.... So you cannot go by anyone else's experience as everyone responds differently... Good Luck..
