That is a very complicated question. While there may be some people who use it as an easy option, they are a minority. Most suicides arise from deep depression and or trauma. I do not judge them, I have been there. I can tell you in my case that I was not thinking anything. Prior I have no memory for about 3 months, my depression was so severe. When in that situation you tend to stop functioning and are unable to think or process anything. Somehow in my subconscience, some awareness must have been lingering as I vaguely remember thinking " what will happen to my children" and somehow, I don't remember, called my father who called an ambulance. I know a lot of people think it's a cop out but it's far more complex and serious than that in most cases. Being depressed or overwhelmed with grief or guilt are just some reasons why this happens. It's very sad and is heartbreaking for those left behind with no answers. They often blame themselves as my family did for not seeing it. It wasn't their fault. The mind is a funny thing and in the week preceeding my failed(I'm blessed to say) attempt I suddenly became far more "normal" and functioning like I had a miracle cure apparently. My family could not possibly have forseen this as I didn't myself. This is very hard for me to talk about but I hope in speaking out it will help others and assist them in their understanding. I'm left dealing with the shame of what I tried to do as people tend to judge me with "how could you" and Why didn't you think of your kids" etc. After two years of intense psychiatric help, I became aware of and learnt a lot. I am now all these years later functioning well and have learned life skills that will never see me return to that place though I still suffer from bouts of depression.
So all I can say is if you ever know someone you think may be heading there, love and support is what you can offer and even more so if they survive. So complicated.

I think anyone who commits suicide must be either very angry or very sad.
Their usual thoughts are, if angry, "I'll show you." And if sad, "See, you'll miss me now."
I hope if you know anyone who is thinking of committing suicide, you'll tell their parents or someone close to the person so that they can get help.

i think it is hard to pick what your mental state must be to feel that there is no one left to turn to that there is nothing and i mean nothing that can bring you joy i think thoughts before they die must be fear if the person is religious then they will have the fear of once this is done it is time to meet there maker and explain there actions if there not religious then there's nothing for them to cling to. that this is it no morning light no cold breeze nothing they are truly at there end in this life all in all very sad for someone to be so alone

I think they are people that can't get a release to happiness and they are so stressed out and depressed that this is the only way to freedom or happiness. But we all know as time goes on we eventually find happiness or really good drugs.

1. I think they were in so much emotional pain, they did not want to feel it anymore.
2. Also they felt that things would never get better.

i think before they did it, they probably really didn't want to...suicide is a cry for help.....unfortunately, they don't realize that suicide is a permanent solution to a short-term problem.....because all problems are temporary and all problems pass.......
