Yes, Vista is in Beta and you can download it and begin using it.
But, take caution before you do. The device requirements are quite demanding. If your computer is more than a year old, you may have some problems. If you want to know if your computer can run vista safely and efficiently without causing you periods of grief and maintenance, I suggest downloading and running the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor beta BEFORE attempting to install windows vista beta. You can get this tool here:

no charge (:

I just got an e-mail a couple days ago from Microsoft for me to download the beta, but I haven't tried it yet.

vista is in beta testing. still plenty of bugs and crashes but its getting there. you gotta love the macro shot for the desktop background! :D

well im glad they're doing this unlike their release with ME. that release was more like "here try our product so you can report bugs to us coz we haven't got time to do it ourselves".

This is still evident in XP.

It won't be available to the public untill next year. If you read the current computer magazines you'll get the latest news on it. I'd probably stick with XP myself.
