Im getting a new computer and want to know what the BEST version on windows is, and how much it costs. (the computer isnt coming with windows) Please help me out!!

I'd say, Windows XP is smarter but Windows 2000 is faster.

Right now, the most commonly used is Windows XP (Professional costs 250-300 dollars and Home costs 150-180 dollars.)
It is spectulated that Windows Vista will come out at the end of this year or early next year, however many are not too excited about it as there is not too many drastic changes, and many worry that there are going to be too many bugs.
Personally, I still think Windows 98 is the most stable and secure operating system. This is becuase there are no longer viruses made to target Windows 98, yet most programs still support 98. As well, Windows 98 does not use up as much system resources as XP, ME, or 2000.

Just go to your local pc store and buy a copy of Xp home with sp2 oem....Its about $90.00 or just get the upgrade from Office Depot and use you old verison of window. When it ask for no version of windows found just put you old verson in and that will work..

First check the specs of your computer and make sure its got ample horsepower! :D
if you're buying a 64 bit processor hit the 64 bit OS
if not stay with normal 32 bit Os.
stick with XP SP2 i think it costs around 100+ aussies

Vista will not be out for a while..
I personally like Win2k and you can probably pick up a used copy cheap, if your a computer novice XP would be better.

it will have lots of bugs , stick with xp
