Same reason we talk.

Because they have something to say. But we don't speak dog & they don't speak English. Usually a dog barks at someone or something. My dogs bark when they see a person pass the house -- like they are giving an alarm. A dog may bark if it is lonely or left tied outside with nothing to do. I had a Yorkie who used to have barking fits at the vaccum cleaner. Then I had a husky who didn't bark at all, he would howl and I never could figure out what triggered it.

Dogs are individuals just like people, we may have some traits in common, but each and every creature on this planet is unique.

A dog's bark is his way of communicating. Dogs cant' talk like we can and the barks we hear are part of the dog's language along with other noises that the dog makes like whining.

If a dog hears someone who he doesn't know coming around his house, he'll bark at that person. He's telling them, "This is my person's house and I'm protecting him. You aren't supposed to be here because you don't live here." Dogs also bark if they hear a sound that is unfamiliar to them. Dogs also bark if they feel that someone is threatening you. This is a warning to the person who they feel is threatening you to stop.

For many different reasons, but in general, it is how they communicate. They bark to let you know someone is around, how happy they are to see you, there are other dogs around that need to talk to them, the list is endless but the act is functional as long as it doesn't go on endlessly. I do so hate continuously barking dogs and the owner of said for letting it go on. Good question!! DOGS RULE!!

For a lot of reasons. Mainly they bark to alert that someone or something different is around. Secondly they bark to communicate and thirdly, some bark just to hear themselves bark!

Dogs bark because it's their way of communication. The bark loud and stong if they feel threatedned or danger. The way they bark is how they feel.
