China's a great place certainly but even cities are just too big for just a 4-day stay - Singapore's a better choice for your intention: a city state, cosmopolitan with virtually all kinds of modern amenities for leisure, entertainment; english-speaking; clean and safest country in Asia (i feel).

Where are traveling from? If you're in Tokyo, maybe.
But from the United States or Europe, it's at least a 12-14 hour flight into Beijing. You would spend half your time on airplanes.
If you want a place with a Chinese feel that has English films, visit Hong Kong.

Depends on where in China you want to go. I hear Beijing is a good place to go. Check with your travel agent. Be aware of transportation. Traffic there is bad, drivers worse. Do choose licenced providers, not the cheaper private unlicensed taxis. Also due to the type of government they have, you need to be careful of what you say and to whom you say it. shanghai would be a great place. there is tons to do. plenty of movie theators that play movies in english. love the markets. you can go to high end places, or small local places for reasonable prices. the highest bar in the world is located in shanghai....cloud 9 i believe it's called, and offers amazing views. bar rouge on the bund is a nice trendy place to sip on some martinis.

China is such a huge place. If you want a fun weekend with your wife, I would suggest Singapore. A lot to do, mostly English speaking, great places to eat many kinds of food. Great music, clean, safe .

If you want a romantic getaway, why not try Bali Island, Maldives... but no English movie or so. China is chaotic everywhere... especially in the cities.

why would you want to go to an exotic country like china to watch english movies and eat american food...celebrate the difference..or just reconnect in the US

you shud travel this country, i fly to shanghai at 31.07. andy stay there to 18.08. because, my friend works there. andy i visit him for 3 weeks. i affraid about the fly too, but i want to see him and than it was for me no question that i must fly. the country must be beautyful, i learn somthing about this cuntry and the live there. my fly are 13 hour and 2,5 hour with car to suzhou. that s a longer trevel than your's. hey what's happen. go and have look about the people and her doing. you where enjoy the jurney. i think so. sorry about me terrible english, i work to where better.
