Where do the virgins in Islamic Paradise come from?

Question

Are they virgin women who have died and gone to heaven?
Are they created for this purpose?
Are they women who have died and been somehow purified or made virgins?

And... does this mean that the Islamic heaven has 72 times more women than men?!

FIRST OF ALL, LET ME CLARIFY THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION MADE BY CRITICS OF ISLAM.
what women get in the paradise it exactly the same as men. in arabic when you speak to a group of people containing men and women you speak to them using the masculine verbs. however, in the Quran many times Allah says femals or males many times (but not always) to make it clear that the talk is not toward men only but also to women.
also, the paradise contains whatever one desires. so, it's obvious that if women desires men then they can have it.


Surah 3:195

So their Lord accepted their prayer: That I will not waste the work of a worker among you, whether male or female...

Surah 4:194

And whoever does good deeds whether male or female and he (or she) is a believer -- these shall enter the garden, and they shall not be dealt with a jot unjustly.


Surah 36:56

They and their wives shall be in shades, reclining on raised couches

Surah 39:34

They will have with their Lord whatever they desire; that is the reward of those who good.

Surah 43:70

Enter the garden, you and your wives; you shall be made happy.

the hoors (male and females) have been created by God. and when the people who deserve to go to paradise, will be made as much beautiful as hoors. Allah has made everything in pairs.

They will say to each other, Glory be to God, who has made us to live together. They are spouses. that does not mean that paradise will have 72 times more woman than men. because hoors are made for both man and woman.

MANY christians have problem with this issue, i ask why? Whats wrong with having sex with pure spouses which God has made legal and good. if you are against sex, then stop having it in this world as well. yesterday my christian friend told me that Christian paradise does not have any sex. SO SAD!

Let me first clear up that the (#) of virgins reward for Jihad is not mentioned in the Quran.It's mention in a hadith (saying of the Prophet) which is classified as Alien. Non-Muslims who are anti Islam are obsessed with this hadith. As it seems the only way they could comprehend why a Muslim would die for the cause of Allah (swt) would be if he were promised a great amount of sexual pleasure. Some being oversexed people themselves it sounds logical. Jihad is also a sensitive topic which carries guidelines which need to be followed ex. suicide is a major sin in Islam.

This is what the Quran says about one of the rewards in heaven:

4:57 But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal home: Therein shall they have companions pure and holy: We shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening.

and another verse describes them:

44:54 So; and We shall join them to Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.

Both women and men will be rewarded with perfected mates that were created for this purpose.Along with anything they desire:

41:31 "We are your protectors in this life and in the Hereafter: therein shall ye have all that your souls shall desire; therein shall ye have all that ye ask for!-

Nor can our imagination comprehend how great heaven is.

It sounds like a sad joke - but I am serious here though Muslims will heatedly deny it.

The passage in the Quran was mistranslated. It was not 72 Virgins BUT a delicacy something like dates; WHITE RAISINS. No virgins. They were to receive these because these particular treats were considered incredibly delicious..., fit for kings as it were.

Can you imagine dying for white raisins? Even just 72 virgins are not worth getting yourself killed over. Jesus offers us so much more than what carnal sex offers. But for sex these people die - and its really just raisins not women.

I had this communique the different day. Why the bloody hell may you want seventy 2 virgins? What may you do with seventy 2 eco-friendly virgins?! Are they even alluring? Are they furry, toothless? As I understand it, they are not actually human women, but houris, which are human-like females whose virginity does not get destroyed, or is regenerated. They were created for this purpose, and do not have independent souls.

Of course, there are those who have said Islam does not believe human females have souls, either. I wouldn't know about that.

The Catholic church claims the "Virgin Mary" is a perpetual virgin.

That seems to be more of mystery than the Muslim myths.
