Yes, absolutely agree. Do so while you're young so that your mind can be opened a little more, unlike some of the other ignorant Americans that know nothing beyond their own backyards. Remember that it's sad to think that your country, while less than 1% of the world's population, is the be all to end all. It's truly a shame that so many Americans think this way.

YES!!! and I'm doing it now!
It took me almost a half a century to get to a place in my life where I could, but I'm there now! I changed careers.
I'm knocking down the world in chucks now, with a little bit of luck will finish up before old age sets in.
We only see and hear the bad on TV, but the real world is still a great interesting place.
Costa Rica and it's volcanos, the Dutch and their boats, Paris is still a city of dreams, Asia with its many flavors (mostly hot LOL), and the list goes on.
I only thought I didn't like curry, then I traveled... now I'm a curry junkie.
I haven't done South America or Africa yet... but they are on my 'hit list'.
What I found the most interesting is, that no matter where you go, people are very much the same. Kids want to have fun, parents work and hope their kids will have more than they have, and almost every country has politics and the locals always have an opinion about it.

Travel opens many doors and learning experiences to people. It broadens your mind and thinking and helps you to appreciate the pro's and con's of other places as well as the hardships and blessings of other people. Learning about other countries and cultures is a passion of mine as I am from an Indigenous background and find it all quite fascinating. I have 5 kids now so travel is no longer something we indulge in very often anymore, but one day. Being open to others, their country and cultures keeps you grounded and grateful for your own blessings too. Have lots of fun in your travels. Don't leave Australia off your list.

Yeah, traveling rocks. I've been all over the world. I love travelling. Everything about it. The food, architecture, art, people, history, smells, sounds, music, clothing, etc. etc. etc. I even love the toilets. Every country does it differently.
See the world, rich and poor, far and wide, young and old. See it all!!!!!
