Ok me and my boyfriend have been dating for almost 2 years now. My boyfriend recently just 4 days ago went and got 2 tattoo's on him. He had tattooed my 1st, 2nd and, last name initialed on his arm. And i was just wondering why do men do that. My friend told me maybe its because he wants to show u how much he loves you. But i was think wel, that tattoo is gonna be on him forever he can't take it off, so do you think he's stating that we will be together forever, im not freaked out at all about it, He has told me that he wants to marry me and he always dream of the married life, but also has said that "we" aren't ready for that step so soon, and i understand cause im still in college. I just wondered why would he tattoo that on his arm but not ask me to marry him yet? maybe i shouldn't read so much into it. Its probably something just got tatooed on there cause he couldnt think of nothing else really lol.

It takes all kinds to make the world go round. Personally I think like the guy on Miami Ink the tattoo will outlast most relationships. I would not tattoo your name on me if we were married.Just some people do thing because it is cool or the happening thing to do at the time.If he really wanted to show you how much he cares for you he would know what you like and he would have done something you really would appreciate.

Don't worry about it. Some people for some reason get themselves branded. When they do it they believe they will be with that person and always. My cousin got herself branded when she went out with this one guy. But the relationship didn't last so she covered it up with butterflies instead. I think people do it to show the really love this person that they are willing to get their named tattooed on them. The only names that will ever touch my body is mine or my future children's.

i dont know why your boyfriend did that but my bf got my initials tattooed on him about a year ago and he said he did it so show me how much i mean to him and that even if it never worked out it would be a reminder of all of the good times we've had. i thought it was pretty sweet, and now were engaged :)

No idea.
I have several tattoos, and have been married for 5 years, and my wife and I agree that it would be stupid for me to tattoo her name anywhere on my body. She has asked that I have the letters of her name randomly worked into a large tattoo I have on my shoulder... I'm considering THAT.
Unless it's your kids, or dead family members... just say NO to names on your body.

Because they wanna prove to their girlfriend that they care about her. Think about it he got a permanent mark on his arm that will stay there forever unless he goes into painful surgery just to show that he loves his girlfriend! That's some serious love!

Guys do it because they are stupid. That's a really bad idea, because you never know what can happen. Even if you get married you shouldn't do that, because you could possibly "fall out of love".

um, anybody that gets their boyfriend/girlfriend tat in their arm usually won't end up together forever...look at Angelina and Billy Bob >.>
I would never get the love of my life tat in my arm, i mean, what if I arm got cut off, or we got a divorce... "no baby, that's my cat's name..."
