I wouldn't suggest it. Sometimes it can make the envelope look like junk mail and the recipient may disregard the invite. Also, if you address the envelope personally, it may relay to the receiver that you are sincere in wishing their attendance. I know it can take a lot of time to hand write them, but it saves money too! And if you don't have the best handwriting, ask someone you know who has nice handwriting to help you out!

Traditionally the envelopes are done by hand, however that was when the bride had nothing to do all day but worry about her wedding. Since I'm sure you have a life, use CLEAR labels and you should be fine. Also use a handwriting or script font in a larger size, make sure that it's easy to read for the postman. Don't use white labels and 12 pt times new roman, that would be tacky. Good luck.

If you are having a simple, semi-formal wedding, I don't see where it would be tacky to use labels instead of hand addressing them or calligraphy. If you are having a formal wedding, then I would definitely suggest had writing or a more sophisticated calligraphy. However, it is your wedding. The choice ultimately resides with you.

I think it's more personal if you do them by hand and the ones I have received over the past year, have all been handwritten. That shows the bride has taken time to address your invitation.

If you are going to do them on a computer, I suggest not using labels, print them directly on the envelope using a font like monotype corsiva as that will give the effect of handwritten but easy enough for the post office to read.

When I sent out my invitations, I hand addressed the outside, but I put labels for the return address and I also put labels on the reply envelope. I had my local print shop make them up for me. The only reason I hand addressed them is because I didn't have the addresses stored on my computer in a program to use them in.

I say no. If you do a search for wedding address labels (I am getting married and thinking of doing this myself) several cute labels pop up. I think the only people who stress about seeing a label (horrors) than handwriting have too much time on thier hands. It's YOUR wedding, do what you want to do!

Traditional ettiquette is to hand-write your envelopes. However, I think there is nothing wrong with using labels -- if they are clear labels. Everyone is so busy these days, I don't see how someone could just gasp in horror that their invitation was not handwritten. Plus, the postal system tends to make their mistakes, and typed labels are less likely to get lost as handwritten ones that couldn't be accurately scanned and sorted.

No I did it any no one noticed. I priced out other options like calligraphy and they were so expensive. People do not look at the envelope. Make it in nice font.

When i got married we used labels. It cut down immensely on the time to address every envelope.
