Jesus was a Jew so I would have to say that what ever they were back in that time he would have been. Do know he wasn't a Catholic because the Romans Catholics didn't want anything to do with him.

The first religion was a primitive form of Judaism, or just the worship of YHWH (although it goes against about all basically accepted rules, certain small tidbits in the story of Creation confirms that it is true and is as YHWH did it and instructed on Mount Sinai, such as saying that He Created whales, which neither Moses nor later Biblical editors would have any knowledge of, plus, they never say that the Seven Days of Creation were day after day, just in that order, which, according to evolutionism, was the correct order). However, eventually, pagan religions and idolatry took control and only a few worshiped YHWH, the one true God (however, even according to the Bible and the Koran, there are other gods who try to rival YHWH, such as Baal, who was able to call forth rain). Anyway, Jesus was a sort of preacher of Judaism (not primitive, fully formed), but he was not a real Rabbi, and from him branched Christianity, and from his descendant, Muhammad, Islam. Continuing on what I said earlier about Creation, they never said that YHWH didn't create anyone elsewhere, as He probably created couples like Adam and Chava (original Hebrew for Eve) in North America, Central America and/or South America, sections of Europe (but not certain sections, like Rome, as the Romans were descended from 'Esav [original Hebrew for Esau]), Southern Africa (not Northern, as most North Africans were descended from Adam and Chava, the Egyptians from Misraim, a grandson of Noah, the Kushites from Cush, and the Libyans from Put), India, sections of Asia, and Australia and the Oceania.

Umm, Taimur, I don't think that Islam teaches that Moses was a Muslim, as the religion officially became a religion when Muhammed came. I looked it up. They even SAY it in the Koran that Muhammed was not born a Muslim because the religion wasn't formed yet. So therefore, Jesus was a Jew.

The first religion that we have any record of is monotheism, which means the worship of ONE God. Only later do we find the worship of many gods and eventually animals, etc. As to your second question, Jesus was a rabbi and he preached. He preached about the Tahnak, or Old Testament. The new testament is sometimes called the explainatory notes for the old testament. The religion of Jesus was what today would be called Orthodox judaism, and christianity is sometimes referred to as Judaism fulfilled. Hope this helps.

In actuality, the parables were for those that religion had failed; traditional scriptural teachings were also employed by Jesus, but they were mostly used in the presence of "learned" men. The parables were intended to revive the seed of God in those who were openly outcast from the synagogues because of their "worldly and sinful" ways, yet were being summoned to repentance by the word of God. Jesus was sent because religion, and the law, were incomplete in the sense that flesh and blood would have the occasion to subvert the spirit of what the law and all religions of the earth were created to accomplish--to reconcile the "children" with the "Father". Many times Jesus was persecuted for not adhering to more traditional forms of teaching and was often accused of teaching his own self made doctrines. Without the acceptance of traditional rabbinical teachers of his day, it is most likely accurate to conclude that Jesus did not preach ANY religion--merely wisdom and understanding that transcends all man made precepts and religious constructs.

religion is to adhere to a set of rules and regulations that dictate principles and values - Christ was never about a religion, he was about a relationship with people - he was more than a preacher, a teacher, a parable teller, a healer, a miracle worker, one who raised from the dead, he's more than a swear word, he's the precious son of God, he Jesus Christ, the fleshly embodiment of God that came and lived and died on the cross as an atonement, the sacrificial death of our sins, the mediator (pope) for our sins, that we might have a means to the father for forgiveness and by which there is no other way into heaven.

Gilgamesh is a word to research, for origins of religion.

And yes Jesus was a major preacher, a superstar, so to speak. It was sometimes difficult, even for his closest friends to decipher the parables. How much harder is it now, 2 thousand years later, to understand what 'the eye of a needle' is?

Many people have the misconception that Islam is the new religion and Prophet Muhammad pbuh founded Islam. Prophet Muhammad is not the founder of Islam but he is the last and final messenger of Allah. Islam is there since Man sets foot on Earth. In fact, the first man on earth i.e. Adam pbuh was first messenger of Allah.

JESUS PREACHED ISLAM

We should consider the fact not just the word. The fact is that Jesus preached to believe in one God. Jesus worshipped one True God. Jesus prayed to God( he even fell on his face and prostrated, bible - Matthew 26:39). Jesus preached ten commandments which are found in the teachings of Islam also. Jesus prohibited pork, wine, blood, dead meat or any food on which any name besides God has been taken. Jesus prohibited adultery, fornication. Jesus practiced circumcision (bible - Luke 2:21), Jesus greeted by saying "peace be on you" (Luke 24:36) same as muslims greet i.e. Assalamoalikum means peace be on you, and last but not least, he prohibits Shirk i.e. Associating partners with God almighty (bible Mark 12:29). So all these teachings are part of Islam. So Jesus was a muslim.

Jesus pbuh was a Jew. Jew in that century who follows the teachings of Moses, according to Muslim theology was a Muslim. Just as Moses was a Muslim, and his true followers would be.

The Gospel of John, chapter 5 verse 30 says,
John 5:30 "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgement is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me."

A muslim is a person who submits his will to almighty God. Jesus says in this verse, ".......I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father ......"

I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father. If you translate into Arabic it means Islam. A person who follows Islam is called as a Muslim. So according to the bible Jesus Pbuh was a Muslim.

there are Neanderthal graves with buried trinkets the people lived with and things to bring to an after life. Cave paintings in France were the first temples. So there was a connection to god and cave men had a higher power. how long it took for a con artist to say you cant have God directly. you have to talk to him through me,and it will cost you a piece of meat has not been determined. Knowing human nature it probably was pretty early.

jesus was teacher and preacher. Rabbi mean teacher. He was a Jew and not a Christian, so Judaism preceded Christainity and before then, were other religions that beleived in more than one god.

Religion predates the bible by thousands of years. Most major civilizations had their own system of beliefs. Don't forget pre-Columbian peoples, ancient Egyptians, etc.
