I want to go visit New York and maybe more of Eastern US. What is a must see place or a fun place to go? I'll probably have 2 weeks if my b/f finds me a room for the time that his friend is gone.

I am from Los Angeles so things like malls or Six Flags is getting boring to me. Thanks for your answer though. I'll be sure to go to 5th avenue.

Hi. I'm from LA area and have been to New York a couple of times now. I really liked the atmosphere. It's totally different from LA. There are a lot of people walking around, taxis everywhere, the big buildings. Things you should see are: Times Square, Empire State Building, South Street Seaport, Fifth Avenue, Grand Central Station (has a good food court), Central Park, UN headquarters and Rockefeller Center. I also liked going to the shops at Columbus Circle. I liked looking from the windows & seeing the outside view. I also liked Carl Schurz Park. I like the view that you get from it. There are a lot of places that I like in NYC. NYC is a walking city and you can discover something new all the time.

New York has so much to do and see not only fantastic shops, there is the Empire State but go early to avoid a very long line, Ellis Island and the Statue Of Liberty, The US Intrepid, The Beast which is a speed boat which takes you around Manhatten, amazing shows both on and off Broadway, Central Park, and the Bronx Zoo to name a few. New York also has an awesome nightlife, it is truely the city what never sleeps. You will have a wonderful time..

I love going to the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. Central Park is great--always people doing things there. They have a zoo, but the Bronx Zoo is bigger and better, and not that far from Manhattan. Across the street from the Bronx Zoo is the Botanical Gardens--it is beautiful, and has a very nice restaurant. The Village is great, what a bunch of characters you'll see there. The East 80s is known as Germantown, and there are great restaurants.

Take the Staten Island Ferry at about twilight/early evening. Beautiful view, fun ride. You'll be able to tour lower Manhattan/Chinatown too, while you're in the area.

Can't beat Coney Island - the Cyclone is one of the world's most celebrated roller coaster.

Central Park - rent or bring roller blades. You can also rent a bike.

Get a metrocard and ride the NYC subways to get around. If you avoid rush hours, it's not as bad as you think, and some of the elevated lines have great views
