If the Ten Commandments reveal what sin is and shows us the characterics of God, than why do some Christians say that this law has been abolished, when the first four commandments have to do with, Love Thy God with all Your Heart, Soul, Mind and Strenght and the last six commandments have to do with, Love Your Neighbor as Yourself. Yet they keep nine of them, but do not keep the fourth one. Now, if you found out that man has changed God's law, would you follow man or God? Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the law but, to fullfill it. (Matt 5: 17-20) The new covenant was Jesus taking the place of the Lamb and High Priest, you will never find a changing of the Ten Commandments, only in the book of Daniel where it shows in prophesy that man will change God's law and times. In the book of Hebrews tells us that there still remains a Sabbath rest for His people. Through out the bible, old and new testament tells us to keep the commandments of God. Jesus kept them, why don't we?

We should still keep the commandments. We do still need to ask for forgiveness of all sins.

I'm currently an atheist, but I was a practicing Christian for over 30 years, and I was baptized in a Baptist church. Baptists teach that "once saved, always saved," so I guess that makes me an Atheist Christian, kind of like those Atheist Jews.

As an atheist Christian, my interpretation of the Jesus myth is that Jesus paid for all sin with his death. It is unnecessary to repent or do anything. He either paid the price for all sin, or, he did not pay the price at all.

A person can murder, rape, rob, steal, lie, fornicate, adulterate (is that a word?), pontificate, elucidate, hermaphrodate, or just plain double date and there is no eternal penalty.

So sayeth the Jesus myth.

Additional comment after reading other answers:

What his followers claim is totally irrelevant. Either Jesus paid the price for all (all = no exceptions) sin, or he did not. There is no place for he paid for some sin but not others. If he was a sacrifice for sins, it was for all sin.

Which means that every person on the planet is "saved" no matter what he does or believes. There is no penatly for "sin" and has not been since his death.

So sayeth the bible and Jesus myth.

I would think that, for your first question, ask forgiveness that you needed to be 'born again'. My faith in God has never wavered over my whole life so I have never needed to rediscover my God who was with me always. As for your second question, I do not follow anything when it comes to religion and man. I follow what I feel in my heart is right and rarely trust the word of man, written or spoken. Nine times out of 10, it is inaccurate in some way or another simply because the person saying/writing it has influenced it by just having their own point of view or perspective. The 10 Commandments were written in stone, they are forever in my eyes and I plan to keep it that way. Good luck!!

I think my most frequent sin, is presenting myself as hostile to people I meet in life. This challenges people, and leads to more hostility. Pride can also be a stumbling block, to those who feel safe in Christ...

James (Jesus's brother) tells us that if we keep one and break another of the commandments then we've broken them all.
