Well.. for the most part cold sores last about a week.. given you take care of them.. make sure you keep it moist with something like blistex.. it's a great easy and cheap solution.. keeping it moist, prevents it from splitting, and this is key in the healing process.. cankers sores.. gargle with salt water.. it may sting.. but within 2 to 3 days you will likely see it disappear. hope this helps.. also.. listerine works wonders.

First off, is it a cold sore or a canker sore? If it is a canker it can last for up to 2-3 weeks, any longer and you should go in. What you can do is take a cotton swab with vegetable oil and swab the sore with it. This will coat the wound, and offers healing benefits. Also Half an asprin (asprin, not a substitute) placed on the sore will absorb the acids and reduce the pain. Let the Asprin desolve on the sore. Cant help you with the cold sores sorry ^^

ew...

if you have cold sores then you have herpes.... and it may go away after a while, but you'll probably have outbreaks for the rest of your life. It's a virus, there's no getting rid of it; but researchers are working on a Herpes vaccine... isnt that wonderful? ^_^
