Pluck up the courage and talk to him!!!.If you're too insecure to do that,maybe you could ask a mutual aquainttance to be your undercover agent.By the way,Isn't the whole idea of you liking him and he knowing this the whole point.How do you know he doesn't like you already and is as insecure as you seem to be?.Just go because an opportinity missed can be more hurtful emotionally than spending a lot of time wondering "What if?...".

Flirt with him, and if he doesnt respond by flirting back or hinting, then let him go. or do the "buddy system" when you have a friend ask him about his love life in casual conversation. Dont let them mention you until it's for sure.
