First, let me state that I am no longer a christian.
However, Christian theology believes that the physical hell is a metaphor. The fire isn't literal, but your soul will endure torment for all of eternity that would be as if your body was placed in a furnace and you could never pass out or die from the pain, nor could you go numb. Now, can you tell me why an all-knowing, loving god, who cares for each and every person on this earth as his own child would create such a place with no hope of redemption? Anyone?

Supposedly it is the soul or essence of your inner being. It is your very fabric of life that makes you different, and if supposedly again, if you were abusing the right to live while you were alive, such as become a convicted felon or committed a sin, or raped someone, something of that nature, that inner being of yours will be constantly tormented and filled with nightmarish hell for all eternity.
Not really good news. @_@

First of all your soul will spend eternity in hell in torture, and when we are given our final bodies, those in hell will be too and that is a flesh body that will never be destroyed. Have you ever smelled burning flesh and hair?

Well I am a christian, and this is a very good question, unless it was the people before the rapture, and if they are burnt to ash (the ones that don't believe in Christ, Jesus) will they alway feel the burning of the second coming of Christ?
I am going to be with my Jesus...

Your soul will experience eternal torment. Separation from God, love, just a vast void of nothingness for ever.

From my understanding and I pray I am remembering this correctly and I will refer back to God's Word. In the book of Revelation of Jesus Christ all sinners are raised up from death and believers are raised up from sleep (unless they already went up in the rapture or are already waiting in Heaven) appear before JEHOVAH in The GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT. Where they are sentenced for eternal life or eternal damnation. Meaning that God will purify or condemn our bodies for whatever place we will be going to. Read the book of Revelations for surety. Also I found this
Romans 8:10-11
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
God Bless and Keep you. Good question by the way.

Psalm 16:10 (Whole Chapter)
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Psalm 86:13 (Whole Chapter)
For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
Proverbs 23:14 (Whole Chapter)
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
Matthew 10:28 (Whole Chapter)
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Acts 2:27 (Whole Chapter)
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Acts 2:31 (Whole Chapter)
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption
so your soul burns in hell, but it doesn't have to if u except Jesus as your Lord and Saviour
:)

Hell doesn't exist. Even if it did, souls don't, so that's obviously not the answer.
