make a menu up of meals for the week and only buy the item you need to make these meals. if you shop on-line you may get better deals than in the shop and you are less likely to spontaneous buy.

Coupons are very good source of money savings tips.Cut out the ones that you use, not only what u need. They normally have a month or so before expiring. There are also many websites where you can print them. Also if you will make your list of what you need and then take all the grocery abs and write down who has what you need on sale then You go to Walmart. Tell the cashier that you are comping. They honor all competertiors ads., and they will also accest your coupons. It is time consumming but well worth the savings.

Personally the most economical way for us to shop is use Tesco.com home delivery.

We don't have a car, but we want to take advantage of the buy-one-get-one free offers and other multi-buys. It's cost effective to pay for tesco to home deliver those big, bulky money savers (i.e. 6 packs of 1.5 ltr waters, 2 ltr sodas, spag sauces, etc.). Things that are very awkward for me to try and lug home after a long day at work.

I don't think anyone else gives as good a bargan in the London area.

Cheers

It's not about cheapest with me. It's about best value for money. Top of the list is Lidl's. Kitchen roll, toiletroll, washing powder (liquid), conditioner, tinfoil, kitchenfoil, washing-up liquid and stuff like that. Also Lidl's for mincemeat, burgers, chicken breast fillet, argentinian steak (all frozen), sausages, ready meal lasagne, youghorts, tomato paste, fruit &veg(ours does 50% off fruit & veg on a regular basis) and you can't beat Lidl for value for money children shoes, socks and underwear or pyjamas. They have regular lots of bedding comes in too and it's better value than Roseby or Debenhams! And i nearly forgot their juices :-)
Tesco got brilliant microwave rice, 8 portions for 2 quid (frozen) but their fresh veg are tasteless and their mincemeat is about same price as Lidls but a lot more fat comes out of it when you cook it. Organic fruit and veg from tesco are OK though.
I have to say that Lidl is my local shop though, like 5 minute walk.

Ps. i avoid Sainsbury cause i can never control myself in there but when i do venture that way they always have some really good deals on.

Shop fortnightly it will work out cheaper (you need a big freezer though)

I find a lot of Lidl stuff is crap. I bought my son a pair of shoes and they only lasted a week.

The frozen cream doughnuts are great though from Lidl, but We got sick when we bought the ice cream and chocolate gateaux.
The potato salad is the best from Lidl, I wouldn't buy the mince or frozen pies as the quality is not good.

You need to move to the US. Yeah baby! sorry I had austin powers flashbacks. It is so much cheaper to live here and the quality of life is way higher unless you seek out a lousy place to live. You can drive for 3 days and not cross the US. The food quality is way higher here too.

Compare prices at different grocery stores and of different brands. Usually store brands are cheapest and almost as good as big-name brands.
