Children & People suffer to show us a lesson. GOD wants to show us that we should count our blessings because the example is suffering it shows that we should count our blessings because we should be very fortunate we are not in their position; it also shows that we should "give more than we take", and the homless and poor will not ever suffer like Jesus did, nor suffer at all. GOD and Christ Jesus IS! real. Try getting closer to GOD, and check out this source I put down, listen to the music online and try watching the word with JOEL OSTEEN every SUNDAY on channel 290 for 7:00pm-7:30 or channel 41 (FAMILY) for 11:00-11:30 pm. I believe in God. But sometimes I just think that it's all a lie. Like how there's un-necessary war, poverty, stuff like that. If God created humans and loves them all, then why does he let such horrible things happen? But then again, there are so many miracles happening all the time. How can anyone be so sure?

Jesus/God is exactly as real as anny other belief. These concepts exist in order to give people meaning... something they can point to and say; Look, there! There is a reason for my life to be! This is not meant to put down people that hold these beliefs. I believe that religion plays a very important, although sometimes skewed, factor in society. It helps bring order to the masses. People say that the secularization of society contributes to it's degredation. They are correct, but it's not because people don't have god, it's because if you don't follow the church, some people tend to not have morals, because they are not in fear of anything and have not been around people who taught them better. Sorry for the long answer, I'm finally putting things together and it just happened that your question prompted some of it.

In the bible it say that bad things will happen to good and bad people, but (Psalms 1: 6) for God knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Some people that u think are good may have sins in their life that u dont know about. Some people only appear to be good people. U need to read John 8: 12 (this book of John comes after Luke.)

No, Jesus and god are not real. You ask because you see all of the evil in the world. You're going to get a lot of answers that try to explain evil, but, there is no good answer. A theodicy is an explanation for why there is evil in a world created by an all powerfull, all knowing, and all loving god. There is no theodicy that works.

God can see the end of the road, eons into the future, but you can't even predict the weather correctly for tomorrow. He has a reason for everything. If you have never seen the movie, "The Butterfly Effect", go and see it. It will show how sometimes the really good intentions turn out bad and the really bad can turn out good. Don't judge God's plan based on partial information. Just trust Him. We are His precious children and His plan will always turn out better than ours.

I find it tough sometimes to believe in a compassionate and loving God.
But I do believe in free will, and God allowing us to make our own choices. I think God suffers when He sees the travesties we are perpetuating on our fellow man, but He made the decision to allow us to make our decisions. I just have to believe that God cares for them in Heaven. It's not a great consolation, but it's all I've got.

We don't live in a perfect world because of sin & Satan.
God is faithful and pure love--holy. He's also a just God and justice will prevail.
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy way. Psalm 91:10-11

I think we all go through a stage where we are uncertain of whether or not GOD and Jesus are real. I believe they are real how else would we explain our existence. I feel that I have had the opportunity to see GOD's work through prayers and I truly believe that he is real.
