Well, the nicest thing I can think of in a girl is forwardness. I don't mean "Hi, wanna F***" type of forwardness, but I mean guys get SO flattered when the girl is the one to do the asking out. It really makes a guy feel appreciated and also, you think differently about someone you know cares for you. This will usually lead to the guy taking a liking to you as well, and there is no feeling greater than mutual affection.
So honestly, if you like the guy, go up to him and either tell him or even ask him on a date! Unless the guy absolutely hates you (which he shouldn't) he'll probably think about it for a while and then say yes later. (CHECK HE'S SINGLE FIRST)
