My younger brother is 16 and he's lost nearly 40 pounds w/in the last 4-6 mos or so, no real changes in lifestyle or diet. His father had cerebal palsy as a child...I'm very concerned for him. Thanks again!

Pheochromocytoma is a possibility, as well as other neoplasias. You need to see a doctor ASAP. 40 pounds of weight loss in a 16 year old is very, very abnormal. Best wishes and good luck.

I saw the answers for thyroid but I don't think his hands would trimble depression and anxiety can cause weight loss and shaking, but it does sound neurological, I would defiantly have him taken to a doc asap.I hope you can some answers you need and that everything gets worked out,good luck.

Maybe he needs his thyroid levels checked. That could be a sign of overactive thyroid gland and hormone imbalance.
