Yesterday I had a rather small acne cyst on my cheek that really hurt. I can't leave my acne alone so I squeezed and squeezed it until it hurt even more. Only clear pus came out. Now it is red and SWOLLEN (whole cheek and down into my jaw). It really looks terrible and it's embarrassing. I have been putting Neosporin on it as much as possible. Is there anything I can do besides the obvious - leave my acne alone?? I am a 27 yr. old female and that's the most embarrassing thing. Anything to relieve the swelling until it heals? Thanks so much!!!

same thing happened to me- i put handful of ice cubes in a sock and put it on the swollen areas until it was gone. only took about 2-3 hours. best way to do it is laying down (you could be watching tv) and just rest it on top of swollen part. good luck!

Have you tried an aspirin mask? It's pretty amazing. It shouldn't be used on anyone who has open wounds as it might burn. It is great for reducing under-skin cysts and aids in fading marks. This mask is the very thing for drying up minor zits.
Take about 5-8 inexpensive, uncoated aspirin and crush them into a fine powder. Add a few drops of water to make a paste. Then smooth it on your face. It will be grainy and may crumble. Adding a little honey or aloe vera gel will make it adhere much better. Leave the mask on for about 15-30 minutes. Then wet your hands and gently scrub mask around on your face for a few seconds and then rinse off. You should see a much tighter face, with smaller pores and it should feel baby-soft!
Don't use this mask more than a couple of times a week as it can be drying. It really will help in the exfoliation process as well as helping to clear acne.
You may sneeze a lot while it's on your face but this is common. Also, be careful when smoothing it on or rinsing it off not to get it in your eyes, the grains can hurt.

If you are sure itis a pimple, clearing out the infection on the top of it is helpful in helping it heal but you have to be careful while doing it. Make sure your hands are clean and make sure the area around the pimple is clean as well, wipe it a couple of times with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. Once clean put a hot wash cloth on it so that the area can pop on its own, with it that big if you try to pop it yourself you could rupture the area inside of the pimple and cause it to seep inot your skin or bloodstream (especially if it has become cyst size). Once clean wipe it with rubbing alcohol again and let it air dry. Neo-sporin does work but it is not good to keep it constantly covered up, especially if it is infected. Just make sure you keep it clean and dry. Drink a lot of water, Gatorade, and take some Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, and zinc. It will help to heal the area as well. But do not take too much of the vitamins, only what is recommended. If it gets worse see a doctor.
