Amazon.com has some good books on animal health. Often by the time you figure out what is seriously wrong with your dog he could have died. See a vet anytime a dog is limping, stops eating, has diarrhea or vomiting (especially with blood in it) or has a radical change in activity level for more than 2 days.

Try the site below. There is a lot of information here and maybe you might find your dog's issues on this site. If it is anything serious. or if you have doubts, contact your vet. My question to you. This dog is your responsibility. It is totaly dependant on you for its food, water, shelter. Not unlike a human child. Would you diagnos and treat your human baby yourself, or would you contact your child's doctor??? Enough said. Good luck and I will pray that it isn't anything serious.

Would you use the internet to diagnose an illness in your child rather than go to a doctor?

Nothing replaces getting good advice and treatment from a vet.

There is nothing wrong with informing, educating yourself or doing a bit of research, but please don't do it INSTEAD of going to a vet.

There is no good substitute on the internet for a qualified vet. A rabge if symptoms can fit any number of illnesses in dogs, and if your dog is seriously ill, it could die while you are trying to find the answers on the computer.

I would contact a vet. They are well trained. You may want to add additonal info and a vet tech may have some ideas. There are several that answer questions here. Good luck.
