Children grieve differently than adults. Young children don't understand that death is final and they may think the person will come back. Children between five and nine begin to think more like adults about death, yet they still believe it will never happen to them or anyone they know.

Here are some excellent sites to help you. Also check your local library and book stores. they should have books about death and dying written for children and from a child's perspective. If the child is losing a parent, there is a book called When a Parent Dies by J. William Worden.
