when I started planning mine (and I've recommended this to everyone I've known since), I got a 3-ring binder and made a "chapter" for each thing I needed to handle -- my dress, bridesmaid dresses, flowers, church, reception, food, cake, vows, music, etc etc... next, go though websites and magazines and just pull out everything that catches your eye and put in loosely into those chapters. Once you have a decent collection go through each chapter, one at a time, and look at what you've collected. This will give you an idea of what types of things you want (you'll see patterns, trust me). Next just pick a chapter and start working -- flowers: call or visit a couple of florists; music: start picking songs or singers, for example. Just work each section like you'd work at your job. Don't get freaked out by what seems like a HUGE task, just break it up.
Not only was this a HUGE help in planning my wedding, but it's better than any keepsake book I could have. I have everything from our vows to sheet music for the solos to all the canceled checks in there. I love to look through it as much as I enjoy looking at our photos.

Look at a wedding story they have beautiful weddings. Please do not spend a lot of money for unnecessary things like a wedding planner. As far as plates and stuff go to a dollar tree or something because what u pay for colorful plates somewhere else u can get there for cheap. Check all locations before ordering. Watch TLC on TV or go on-line to TLC and click a wedding story congrats and good luck

Check out wedding magazines. A great store for wedding supplies is "things rememebered" you can get the cake knife, napkins, even wedding gifts there. If you are planning a big wedding be ready to spend big bucks. In my opinion.. I'd rather spend all that time and money on a vacation (honeymoon) than having 100 people be bored for 4 hours or worse getting stuffed and drunk on my dime.

hire a wedding planner or ask someone who is really organized to help u with the whole thing. get ur fiance involved in the whole thing. try to start planning in advance early enough so that u don't have to do everything the day before the wedding.
and most importantly have fun and listen to what the people u care tell u. they r there to look out for u and stop u if u go too far, for ur own good.
good luck and congrats

Then, name the locations and booklet appointments. Start with the rite situation and reception web site, relying on which one is extra most important to you (if, for instance, you know wherein you desire the rite to be, begin there so you'll be certain your date). Check out clarkweddingdesign.com - they connect brides with the right vendors (kind of like a wedding services broker) ... basically they work with a huge number of vendors in each category ... and you tell them what type of thing you are looking for, your budget etc and they recommend the vendors that are right for you. The best part is that their services are FREE! It doesn't get better than that!! They really help take the stress out of wedding planning.
good luck!

I used my local library. There are a TON of books on the subject. Also Get a notebook and write down everything. Write it down when you come across a good idea or squirrel away a picture you like. I wrote down everything from what I wanted on my registry (and we took the list with us when we went to register at Target and at Pier 1), to all my guests and their addresses. I also got help from my local bakery store for the cake and the local florist - she helped suggest flowers with what would be in season and what I could afford. Congrats and God Bless!
