One of my guy friends has his two front teeth a little longer than the rest, and then he filed them down to match the rest. And I don't know if that was so good for him or not...? Should I tell him to go to a dentist or is it fine?

That would be better if he would have gone to dentist, which could be corrected by orthodontist very easily, which would have taken 5 to 6 months for its correction.
But as for now since he is already filed his teeth, if he does not have sensitivity ,that indicates he would have trimmed only enamel of his teeth which does not cause any problem,he need not bother much. if he has got slight sensitivity that means he had trimmed it to 2nd layer of teeth n hence let him use sensodent toothpaste for symptomatic relief n let him take good care of teeth since its more prone to develop tooth decay. If he has got severe sensitivity or so called pain, that indicates damage is close to inner most layer of tooth ,called dental pulp, which needs to be treated by dentist ,which may go for root canal treatment. Anyway you ask his symptom n decide accordingly.

Central Incisors are supposed to be longer by 1/2 mm. or so. It's a sign of youth. He will probably OK. Many people pay big bucks to look younger. Why on earth would he file his teeth down.

Lot's of times that works ok-- dentists frequently file portions of teeth.

You do need to be careful doing it yourself as it is possible to file too low and hit the more sensitive portions of the teeth.

I would see a dentist if it were me.

Its best he goes to the dentist for proper process. Do u know that there re veins in the tooth? I fell when I was a kid and cracked my front tooth, I filed it myself it kept shoking me for 4yrs I had to see adentist, then I knew the teeths have veins. He filed it proper in the normal process since then I felt relieved.

It was a dumb thing for him to do. I"m sure his dentist will give him a lecture....that is if he even goes to a dentist. I do no think it's good for his teeth.
