If your emotions and personality are proof of a "soul" then how come when your brain is damaged or your on drugs, your personality and emotions change? People always say that the complexity of emotions and everyones different personality is proof of a unique eternal soul, but then how come they can be altered by damage to the brain or chemicals from drugs? Doesnt that tell you that it all has to do with your brain so wouldnt the conclusion be that ifthe brain is dead than you dont exist anymore? And also, near death experiences have been proven to be delirium and hallucinations associated with a dying brain and they were also able to create experiences similar to near death experiences by using the drug ketamine so thats not proof either. So what proof is there of a soul or an afterlife? There is none for or against one but right now the logical thing is to assume there isnt one

Even when a person is on drugs or has a mental defect they are still themselves. They may react differently but they are who they are. Rarely does a person turns to someone who has part of their previos self. Near death experiences actually have not been proven. There has been theories made but not proven. You can not prove a person's personal experience. Any scientist can tell you that; but they can draw a likely conclusion of why they think that they happen. And they can conduct experiements to show other possibilities. Because there are people who have had these experiences who were not on drugs, mentally unstable, or un-normal. Now there is no proof of the after life but spiritual teachings have told us that we will not be just dust forever. Our souls live on. That part you just have to have faith on. After all, no one can come back and tell you! LOL

I find the experiences that some people have where they are actually dead and can tell the doctor's, family, or whomever was working on them what they said, who did what, etc. They claim to be floating above and watching.

I hope there is an afterlife. My dad just died and we have code words just like Houdini and his wife. I made my whole family make up code words with me so that if those code words come up unexpectantly, hopefully, those that are gone are still with me somehow.

I miss my father terribly. He passed away 3 weeks ago last wednesday. He was a wonderful human being and so kind and giving. I just hope a spirit like his will live on and one day I will see him again. My heart is broken.

There is no proof (there isn't even any evidence) of an afterlife or a soul. I agree, the logical thing to do is to assume they don't exist. If we don't do that, we might as well consider unicorns to be real, or anything anyone makes up. We might as well consider Star Wars, the Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, and the Da Vinci Code to all be 100% true.

(Edit: The Bible isn't proof of anything, I don't know why people insist is)

what real proof do you have that you're really alive? the human senses are so limited that they cannot be trusted completely. they are the senses of a biped ape body on a planet, in a solar system that is at the edge of the milky way galaxy, amoungst so many galaxies that they cannot be counted.
i really don't think our limited senses are anywhere acute enough to detect the full reality. what is called supernatural is just natural. our senses are so weak they cannot fully detect it. i don't think the soul/spirit/atman is supernatural. our senses cannot detect it. we are, physically speaking, too low a material creature.

Everybody that is ready to die and you are beside him/her or will relate the white tunnel of light. Also before a person is ready to die you see something very white seating on top of his/her nose and frontal region, and a peace that invades the person before he/she expires. You should tried to be more spiritual and would understand the answers. I am not saying read a book, just see for yourself.

Why would people think a talking animal book written by a bunch of unkown ancient goatherders is proof of anything.

You and I both know there is no way to prove ANY matter of faith. One either believes or he doesn't. AND, no matter what, or how many times you write it, you will not change one person's mind about this, either pro or con. So why bother?

There is no proof. There is only time, and even that is questionable. You'll just have to see...

I have a friend who died, spend three days on the other side, and came back to assure us that there is an afterlife. His name is Jesus.
