Could be a number of reasons, but this might give you some places to start.

Firstly, are the pictures 'bad' just on the camera, or when on your PC (or when printed)?.... It may be the display on the camera.

Next take a good look at the lense. Are their any scratches, finger marks (or other contamination)?... Use of a good lense cleaning Kit (Blower brush, lense fluid, and lense tissues) may help if this is the problem.

Similarly, check if there is anything obscuring the Infrared window (if you have one) as this is used for 'autofocus'.

Try changing the settings, resolution, type of shot, etc.... Take pictures of the same object, and then compare the results. You may need to reset the camera back to factory defaults, but don't do this unless you really have to!

The memory card shouldn't really affect the quality of the image, unless it is really knackered, and this would be evident much sooner! Maybe buy (or borrow) a compatible memory card, to check this out.

Finally, have you left your camera pointing at the sun for long periods, in which case you could have damaged the sensor in the camera. In which case, the camera has had it!

Good Luck!

First off, try changing the settings to defualt. Something may have been changed without you realizing it. If there was something wrong with the memory card there would probably be errors in the images and not just bad quality. Also make sure that the lens isn't scratched or covered in dust.

If that doesn't work and the camera is worth enough money than take it to a photo shop and have someone take a look at it, otherwise just buy a new one.
