Yes I do! I am Native American and for my cultural beliefs there are no books. Mostly oral history and traditions, passed on from generation to generation. My boyfriend is Catholic and knowing who said did, said, and what have you is too confusing. It's all Greek to me and hard to understand. I sometimes feel like I have to be a theologist major. Some day I will take time to read it all. As for know, I'll focuse on my beliefs.

It is hard to completely understand which book you are talking about.....however, when it comes to the Bible, as a Christian I love reading the bible and would love to be able to memorize it because it is filled with insight and good news. It reminds me to hand all my problems over to God and to rely on Him instead of myself.....it reminds me that He loves me and that if I love everyone then everything else pales into insignificance.....so sometimes it is not that you memorize a book to know what you believe but memorize it to remind you to stop focusing on yourself and focus on the more important things in life...

Hello Hillbillies ... :)

I am not sure what book you are referring to..

It cannot be the Bible..because I used to be an atheist..and I hated anything to do with religion..especially Christians..so I never read the Bible..yet the day after I asked Jesus into my heart..I was quoting the Bible..because later that week when I finally decided to buy one..I found the scriptures I had been quoting..and there were many.. :)

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ..

What book? If you mean the Bible, there will be a period when the politicians in our government----yes, the United States---will ban Bibles and the scripture that states, "I will hide your word in my heart that I might not sin against thee," is not just the punchline to a joke. The scriptures that we "hide in our hearts", or memorize, will be what sustain us during the Tribulation, if God sees fit to keep us here through that awful time.

What book are you referring to? The dictionary?

Who said anyone was forced to memorize the book? Maybe it was completely voluntary. What's weird about it?

Who said you had to memorize anything? I'm sure no one has ever sat you down and said "In order to know what you believe you must memorize the bible, kuran, torah etc..." And if they have they were wrong, you don't have to memorize anything, you don't even HAVE to read it....you just need a BASIC understanding of what it is.

Yes, I think people should be able to choose what to believe and not be told what to beleive. From a book or a politician, teacher, web, religeous leader, whatever. Only we can know for ourselves what we really do and do not beleive.

I find it weird, cruel, dangerous, wrong, and ignorant. Your question contradicts itself because you can't be TOLD what to believe. It's a sad world we live in when we read a question that contradicts itself, yet it makes perfect sense.
