Walking is out, it makes my pain worse. I cannot get up and down from the floor or climb stairs. Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

Can you get to a facility with a therapy pool? I have two relatives with MS and that has been a lifesaver for them.

The water temperature can be a little warmer, which lends to relaxing and soothing sore muscles. The water takes away some of the weight and impact of exercises or walking in the water.

Good luck.

If you can get into a program that has a therapy pool with the warm water that would be the best and the easiest.
Yoga would be great but very hard if you have trouble walking and getting up and down. You sould modify some ofthe yoga poses to a sitting position and just the slow streching would help.
Yoga is a very relaxing activity but take it slow and easy.
The water would be the best as you would have less resistance and you would float so there would be less pain.
Check with a YMCA or some of the hospitals here have them and they do classes at the hospital.
Good luck and keep trying. The more you move the better off you will be.

Yes, you will probably need the services of a physical therapist who will create a program just for you and your abilities to stretch. it would be worth a one-time visit. Call a local home-health to point you in the right direction.I think that is most important with MS; it will keep the muscles limber. I would not encourage extreme exercises, perhaps Pilate's standing would help. But there is just no way of knowing unless I could assess your condition. You might try the large rubber bands that are used in therapy (I think they have them at Walmart); loop the around the instep of your foot and you can stretch your leg out, and pull with your arms. That would give your limbs a good workout. Look up exercises that are for people who can only sit in a chair. There are numerous exercises for people (like you and myself) who are challenged. ANYTHING you can do for yourself will be to your benefit. And any water-based activities would do you good. God Bless you.

Yoga like Bikram Hot yoga. MS gets worse over time but yoga stretches and strengthens and detoxifies body creating an anti-aging effect. It regenerates nervous system. Bikram is most therapuetic of yogas. See first 4 paragraphs of below site for something else (diet) that can help.
