My Humana perscription insurance has reached what they call the "donut hole"-after a certain amount of $ is paid on my scripts in less than 12 months, I have to pay 100% of the cost until it reaches $3200 or $3600.00, then they pick back up on paying for part of the cost. I have reached that limit, now I don't know how I will pay $448.71 for a 30 day supply of this medicine - is there a generic? I was told there isn't.

Hi,
Provigil in canada is called alertec and avaiable in only in 100mg. So what you can do is take 2 pills to make it 200mg.

I am giving you a link where you can buy the original canadian products.

Best of Luck

Apparently this particular drug is not in common use. If it were, then there would be a generic.

So, because there is so little call for it, the drug companys charge a high fee for it so that they are able to recoup their investments for developing it.

I suggest you request your doctor to prescribe a different and less expensive medication that is just as effective. There must be similar drugs to treat your problem, not just this 'one'.

And, who informed you that there wasn't a generic? The druggist? The doctor?

You should be able to check it in your local library. Though I would go to a druggist and ask that they do a research for you in their list of drugs.

If your present druggist gave this information I would be leery. The druggist may be wanting to sell the more expensive product.

A previous druggist I went to was doing that to me. Needless to say, I have a new establishment where I am not being taken advantage of when I don't know the specifics.

So, ask your doctor or different druggist.
