Yes it is stupid because according to the Bible God can do whatever he wants. He could end sin forever with a snap of his fingers. But he decides to create a son to die a miserable death instead? What nonsense!

It actually is an old ritual for atonement of sins. In Jewish law, Jews would be able to atone (or disolve, clean) their sins in a ritual during Yom Kippur. These is when the Priests would hear the sins of all the people one at a time (kinda like Catholic confession, but this was an order by God to the Jews, Catholics just want dirt on people for their gossip pools) then in a sacrifice ritual, the Priest would lay the sins on a goat. This goat's thoat would then be slit and sent to wander and die with the sins in the desert. This didn't 'save' the people, but it atoned for their sins. Jesus' death of his flesh body, atoned for the sins in our flesh body. Since Jesus' s dead body was an encasement for the Lord Our God, it could not stay on this Earth, and per the prophecy was redeemed and made whole and perfect in heaven before even Adam. So, Jesus was the last and ultimate sacrifice if one chooses to accept the truth about sinfulness.

In the Old Testament, God required food and animal sacrifice to show you were sorry for your sins. The Jews evolved to a state where they were just going through the motions without true sorrow for their wrong doing and thinking they kept the law by doing what was required. Jesus came to be the ultimate sacrifice for all time. To put an end to the ritual. Sacrifice is no longer required. You can't just go through the motions now. God now wants your heart! Thats the whole point! You are not saved just because He died for you. You still have to do your part. You have to repent and take up your cross and follow him. "Faith without works is dead". You must live a Godly life to the best of your ability. Then because of Jesus sacrifice, you are forgiven and saved. Without ritual. It's what is in your heart and mind and soul.

Didn't your teachers make you read A Tale of Two Cities? ..'tis a far far better thing I do than I have ever done before.. lots of people sacrifice so that others can survive. Parents give up many things so that their children can have what they didn't have and get an education.. surely self sacrifice is not a concept that you cannot understand..
And, the whole world is not necessarily saved.. only those who accept that sacrifice and follow Him thereafter are saved, according to the faith that you seem to be referring to. It may be offered to the whole world, but if you reject it, you will not be saved... At least not by that death..

Well you must understand that he was the Son of God. God saw all the trangressions/sins of everyone and He wanted us to change for the better. So he sent His only son to save us and to offer forgiveness. Jesus saves us from Hell. He offers his love to any and everyone who needs it.
Alot of people judge Christianity as being an oppressor and what not, but its usually due to the fact they never seen, or had that opportunity to receive mercy from someone. God is real! Because i've seen him change so many lives and mine. Jesus is real because i've seen him give his forgiveness and love towards so many people!
Alot of people dont want to accept the fact that there is something greater than themselves out there until they come to a point in their lives where they need someone to care and they find that nobody wants to accept them. Or they get to that point of old age and on the verge of death to realize they need to accept Christ in their hearts. And it's sad to see people go down like that. Maybe the reason you feel the way you do is becuz you dont have anyone here to show you the way, guide in the right direction, and nourish your spirit.
So you can choose to disagree, but i dont care cuz I love life now more than ever since i accepted Jesus in my life! And i hope and pray that someday you'll find Him before its too late.

It is not stupid. And the whole world could be saved if they would just believe.
However, It did not end with Jesus dying. He rose from the grave and ascended into heaven.
Jesus, also is not only God's son, but he is God.

Jesus was crucified on a cross or stake. The reason he did what he did was for us and is not stupid at all. He came from Heaven to Earth to show the way. From the Earth to the cross our debt to pay, From the grave back to Heaven to sit at God's side and pray for us day and night. He was our representative...a sacrificial lamb. He was without sin ...took all our sins, wrongdoings and bad attitudes and was totally separated from His Father in Heaven at that moment. He atoned or made right us with God so that no-one earns a place in Heaven ...we get it as a free gift. He went back to Heaven so the Holy Spirit could come and fill the whole Earth. He's our saviour, our king, our deliverer, our friend, our brother and so on. Without His death taking our punishment we would have no hope on Earth or hope of a future with God. Jesus dying and being raised again to immortality we would not have a way to live and know God and in turn become immortal.
If we do not believe Jesus has made a way for us to come close to God and be raised to life when Jesus returns...by grace through faith in Him and what He has accomplished for us...then we will perish and have no life in the future. This is for every person from every country and all types and all realities and all mistakes. Just trust Him today and ask Him to be Your Saviour, friend and Lord and your whole life will begin to change slowly with His grace and mercy and you seeking to know Him more and more. Ask Him to forgive all your past failings and be freely forgiven and start getting to know Him so closely. Pray today.

This is for the fellow that said Jesus pretended to be died, how is that?when the solider jabbed him in the side with the spear and immediately blood and water came out he didn't move or scream, because he was dead.and as for you i can't believe you think that way,do you think you were created just to live in a world like this,if you read the bible you will see that it is true Jesus died for us so that we could remain alive but people like you in the past didn't even care about GOD and were to blind to even take note, wickedness made them more happy then doing good and believing in God and Jesus Christ.what a shame that is.

The whole world isn't saved becaused Jesus died. you would first have to understand Jewish ceremonial law to understand why Jesus died ( on the cross) and how He was ressurrected from the dead in order to understand how a person can obey the (Gospel of Jesus Christ) & become saved from their sins, ( not in their sins). God put Jesus on earth to show us the Human form of Himself...Your life will change forever, if you form a personal relationship with HIM, and life will begin to get easier and better for you. Faith in Jesus is so important. He will help you in every situation, if you ask Him. Take the time to say a little prayer and ask Him for help (with anything)..... you'll be amazed at all He will do so willingly. Trust in Him too... faith in Jesus as your Savior is a gift and a joyous experience, really. I could not live ONE single day in this life without His help. The beauty of it all, is that HE wants to help you, and nobody knows you better than He does. Please give Him a chance... He will save you too!!! He's never too busy for you, and nobody loves you more. It's all about prayer, and a personal relationship with HIM. You can do that all by yourself, in the privacy of your own room. You'll deal with life differently after you accept Him, and your life WILL change for the better. I could go on and on... however, do yourself this one favor; read your Bible and read the red print. You'll find out who Jesus is and what HE represents. You'll also figure out His purpose for you in THIS life. Keep in mind, that things may not seem to be turning out "right" in your terms, however, what God has in store for you is much more than you could ever dream possible. God bless!!
