Atheists, or those who believe only in the scientific theories of creation (i.e. big bang theory, evolution etc).

If we evolved from apes, what did apes evolve from. And what did those things evolve from? If you believe the Big Bang theory, what/who put the very first particles in place to combine and form the world as we know it?

This is a very serious question to me, because I am not religous, I do believe in those ideas of our evolution, however, that question leaves me to rely entirely on my spiritual beliefs, that there MUST be something else. Something powerful enough to plant the tiniest seed to grow all of life from. Am I missing some information?

My point was specifically NOT disregarding God's role in it all... I said specifically that I believe in a grwater being who planted all the seeds. My quesion was to those who DO NOT believe in that.

I certainly believe that evolution has occurred, human beings did not start out looking as we do.

Why do apes still exist? Well when you breed and animal opr a plant to form a new one does the old one cease to exist? No. Everything evolves, it adapts to the environment. A body of water dropping steadily on a place in the earth will great a great canyon, but only over thousand or millions of years.

I believe spirituality and science are equally important to life. To neglect either is a mistake, in my opinion

I think your on the right track my friend, but just expand your thinking a little bit on this subject. One of the most interesting theories I've heard about this subject comes from a book "Stalking the Wild Pendulum"- (written by a self taught Astrophysicist!)It asserts that where there is matter there is consciousness and where there is consciousness there is an aspect of "God" Rather then God having a self encapsulated ego, god can be thought of all that is and all that is not. This is often referred to as the "god head" or the "Prime Mover." There may be some unification between the belief in God and in Evolution. "God" emerged from the void realized "Himself" through "His" creation and then returned to the void.
In terms of your question regarding Homo Sapiens- our predecessors didn't evolve from the apes- although prehistoric man was "ape-like" Homo Erectus started to use tools to break open bones for the fat rich marrow inside to feed a very large and developing brain. Apparently big brains require lots of energy! The brain of our strain of primates distinguished themselves by all that Grey matter up there, unlike our "ape" cousins.

The Bible and evolution are both valid and do not exclude each other. This debate must go on between people that never read the Bible, because I read the Old Testament twice and from what I read, it all fits together. Read your Bible thoughtfully and open your mind. If the world started from formlessness in the void, do you think it looked like this (atoms, bacteria, bodies that heal themselves, seeing with eyes...so complex!) after the first week?
Of course not...it had to be much, much simpler.
The world evolved and continues to change and grow.
Evolution is a theory. No evidence has ever been presented that
one species turns into another. It is a theory explaining the similarities of millions of species. Evolution actually supports creationism, because it shows a logic that runs through all life on Earth and logic does not happen randomly.
The Bible is an awesome book and I believe people should read it befor they judge its merits and how it applies to our world.

I dunno much about evolution. But we didn't evolve from apes apparently we evolved from common ancestor that evolved from apes or something like that. I'm not sure where apes evolved from but I'm sure there r people here that know. But I saw someone one asking why there are there still apes? I was told it's coz like if u got apes and some of the apes move to a different part of the world where they had to change/adapt to there new surroundings then they might have started to evolve in to humans. I was talking to friend and he said its like Americans originally came from the UK then why r there still British people? I understood what he meant anyway.

Your question addresses the point I so often make...

Even if species do evolve, or even if things do mutate and change...

who made the particles in the beginning? Who created the atoms? Who made things "living"?

I mean we didn't just pop out of thin air; and for that matter --- "Who created 'thin air??!'"

l.o.l.

I believe in God.
Sure, I don't understand everything ~ but that don't matter.
God does.
He see's the bigger picture.
He's the ARTIST who created it.

God Bless.

Great question. The theory is full of hole and questions no one can understand. Planets run backwards. There are palm trees frozen in the polar regions. And others. You should search them all out. Only by asking questions can you find answers.
