there are some people who feel they have to criticize every thing that comes along, just for the sake of argument. these atheists have more in common with those ancient, drunk greek philosophers than they do with the 21st century. when they die they probably rant and rave about the validity of the life they've just departed. and say that the afterlife is all there is and that their former life was just a meaningless dream. the atheists will probably rant and rave for all eternity and never move on to the next step.

So far as I can tell, atheists nit-pick at the Bible, take it literally, examine its teachings, and so forth because the Bible claims to be true, and many people believe it to be.
I have never understood those who believe the universe is relative. If you believe the Bible is written for the believers only, and does not apply to the atheists, then how can you believe what the Bible says is true? Truth is truth, and is no less true for not being agreed upon.
Most atheists want to know the truth, and want others to know the truth. They question and nit-pick the Bible for two reasons, therefore: because if it is true, then they want to start believing it, and because if it is false, then they want others to stop.
In the end, it doesn't matter who a book is written for. What matters to the atheist (and to many others) is whether it contains truth.
(P.S. Not "athiest", a-the-ist; "i before e" doesn't apply because the vowel string isn't a diphthong.)

Okay. What you just said is the reason we "nit-pick". Many believers DO take the Bible literally. They really believe that God created everything in seven days. They believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans. They also believe that Noah put a male and female of every existing animal on a big boat! Ask yourself; "How many people believe the Bible is true?". You'll see.

First of all I think you mean "Why 'DON'T' atheist understand that the bible was written for believers by believers?" Second I believe that they have been treated very bad by "CHRISTIANS" because they do not believe what we believe. So, as a result, they try to discredit our beliefs and whats the best way to do that??? BINGO, Prove the Bible wrong. And that is why I believe that they Nit Pick at the bible. Oh and you need to careful about how you ask that question. It was not written for believers By Believers. It Ain't FUBU (For Us By US). It is the word of god that he inspired the people to write and it is not just for believers either, if that was the case you never would have picked it up before you were saved. and neither will non-believers. Just be careful with how you ask things.

If a person has faith and ignores all facts, why would he need a book?
It's obvious "believers" don't get much help interpreting their divinely inspired book or there wouldn't be over 10,000 different Christian cults in the US alone.
Stating that the bible is a book of fiction and mythology invented by a pagan Roman Emperor in 325 CE (ad) isn't "nit picking," it is a statement of fact.

Actually there are some that have a little belief they just want justification for their behavior. To put it in this light if you were a true atheist meaning that the difference between you and a rock is that the rock will be around longer. You end when you die. That's it folks. But to believe even the laws of physics that energy never ends but gets converted from one to another. Than life energy exists. If Life energy exists why can't there be some one that facilitates that energy? Can a frog tell how a light bulb was created?

You mean,
"Why don't atheists....?"
The number of the verb is supposed to agree with the number of the subject.
Would you say they is tall?
I hope not.
I actually agree with you.
I think it was written for believers, by believers. A lot of believers are convinced that the Bible is literally true. Maybe you could talk to them.

The Bible is written by God through the prophets.
It can be understood only by the revelation (help) from God.
Wheather it is believer or not, if God helps that person, he or she will understand it. And God loves to help anybody as well as an atheist.
After that, it is up to the person to accept the understanding which he or she get from God. Or, that person can reject it. That person has freedom to choose.

Because it's hard to take a book written so long ago and live by the "code of ethics" in it.
Why is it so hard for Christians to understand that it's not right to try to force someone to believe in the same thing they do?

you think they aren't supposed to be taken literally but many of you Christians do and then try to shove you re beliefs down peoples throats who don't want to believe. yes they are good stories but that is all they are stories told to ignorant people to explain how something worked that couldn't be explained yet, then they got elaborated on and you have religion. now that we have explanations on how stuff works you woulds think you would stop believing in the fairy tales but no you take things too literally
