Sounds like you have a speaker that is shorting to ground. The only way to find out for sure is to disconnect each speaker - one at a time - and see if you get sound when you disconnect one. In a car that's 10+ years old, there is a good chance the paper cone on the speaker has corroded and you may have corrosion on the spade terminals as well. I have actually seen vehicles where the spade terminal gets so corroded it actually breaks off of the speaker and touches the metal part inside of the door. This would cause your lack of sound.
Only other thing it could be is the internal amplifier in the radio is shot. If that's the case, you need a new radio.

No if you blew the speakers there would still be sound, it would just sound like crap. The car is 10 yrs old and the stereo is definately an area that toyota probably skimped on to keep costs down. Shop around for a new radio. If all you want is a tape deck, you can find one under $100, but why not get a cd player, they are not that much more. Also, have them install it. That way, if there is something amiss with the cars electronics, they can find out what it is.

Are they inventory audio gadget? A blown speaker would reason the pinnacle gadgets inner amplifier to close down. So can a speaker twine touching floor. Your subs will nevertheless play with the aid of fact they are linked interior the path of the RCA pre-amp output that's cut loose the interior amp using your audio gadget. the least complicated thank you to discover your situation is to pull the pinnacle unit and bench try it. If it works nice on a try bench, then there is something incorrect interior the vehicle (blown speaker, twine touching metallic and so on). in case you reproduction the priority on the bench then you definately would desire to verify whether it particularly is extra value-effective to repair it or replace it.
