Depression can be experienced differently, depending on the individual; generally it is a really soggy, heavy feeling of lethargy, stuck, unmotivated, or hiding; you may or may not experience it as sad.

Medically, it is important to rule out possible physiological causes, including hypothyroidism, anemia, low testosterone or other hormone imbalances, yeast/candida overgrowth, some kind of other low-grade infection (including teeth).

Aside from that and psycho-spiritually speaking:
Depression comes from holding yourself back from the Truth:
It's like a chronic lie we tell ourselves, until the only thing that becomes apparent is how numb we are...
And then we dig ourselves even deeper to intensify our feelings, just so we can feel something!

How do you bail out of this stuck, dark, mess??

Dismantle your ego!
(this is the part of you/us that lies to you to keep you feeling safe).
Release the fear and Love (healing) will come in to take its place.

Surrender to the impossibility of (your ego or self-preserving, reactive self) trying to manage everything on your own

-- it is too far out of your control -- and surrender to whatever is.

Then allow your (Higher, Knowing, True) self (and God) to guide you into the truth, and give into it --

Strangely enough, it is your resistance (or defense) that causes you such misery, disconnection, and fear.
Your misery comes because you are neither happy nor present with what is going on right here and Now...your thoughts are trapped up in worry about the future, or grief/resentment about the past --
neither of which are here, right NOW.
BE PRESENT NOW.

I know this sounds contradictory to what you want -- relief from what you believe you are experiencing now -- But truly, (because I've have experienced this also) I sincerely promise you, that the pain engulfing your Mind and Heart is about not being available to what is right now in front of you...in this moment. Whatever you don't like about what is going on, can only be possible to change in the Now. YOU ARE NOW. GOD IS NOW. And this now is the only moment that you can possibly ever deal in.

"But I feel so much pain when I bring my mind into the here and now."
I understand.
Your pain is like annoying, barking dog or crying child who is desperately trying to get your attention: if only you would get up to see what the problems and move toward the painful noise, you would know how to better handle it.

Breath!
Ask yourself, what are you really feeling/ thinking here?
Respond to the call: what have you been ignoring in your life?
Surrender to the unknown by feeling how deep those feelings go.
There is a bottom to the pit,
and the bottom of the barrel, is the Top of the Light!
Sit with it. Be curious. Observe. Be in the Now. These are all good first steps.

Remember to tell yourself the truth, and stop lying to yourself.
Dig in and be brave enough to have the doctor reset your broken leg so you can Heal.

Secondly, get involved with others, and give. In so doing, you are allowing Love to flow through you, as well as to others.

Release the fear and false illusions of how things are,
Dissolve your attachments to how things should be,
Allow yourself to be present without criticism of failure.
Participate in what is happening in the here and Now.

Surrender to Love now.
God/ Universe /Life is waiting to catch you.

Apparently you or someone you know is quite sure depression is the problem.

Mainly, if you just sit around doing basically nothing; perhaps reading, watching tv or sleeping a lot, this would be possible signs.

To feel better or rid yourself of feeling useless I would suggest getting out into the outdoors. Go for walks in parks or the country-side if possible.

If you have a pet take it with you, especially a dog. They are the most cheerful and friendly animals.

Invite your friends to join you if you feel like talking and/or just for quiet company.

Go for bicycle rides. Get more exercise.

Do NOT stay indoors and/or cooped up in your room.

Sunshine. Physical pastime. Help any one else. Take care of your bodily wellbeing. "Pretend" you are no longer depressed (that's, check out to behave as you could if you were not depressed -- do not truthfully attempt to idiot someone.) If you rather have a extreme-adequate scientific despair, a few of the ones is also matters you will not be capable to do with out clinical support. Instead of thrashing your self up approximately no longer being capable to do what it takes to recover from your despair, GET MEDICAL ADVICE. That method "any medical professional in any respect, adding and in particular your main-care-medical professional or loved ones medical professional". ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,... If you rather do intend to combat despair with a few over the counter stuff, there are a couple of nutritional dietary supplements and many others. that a few men and women consider might support. St. John's Wort is one among them. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * akatsaki's reply is abusive. Other than that one all of the different solutions published up to now have a few advantage and are as a rule well. For essentially the most side the recommendation they do include is well, however a few are IMO incomplete. Grace's reply is also exceptional up to now. It's whole and nontoxic IMO. DeAnne's as a rule-pleasant reply incorporated a advice for devout support. Unfortunately faith WON"T support until you are ALREADY devout. If you're, then her recommendation is all well. I attempted to appear up igoogleman on fb. I are not able to discover some thing approximately him/her/them/it. I suggest warning. Other than that, Mark's recommendation is well too.

I don't know of anything that would be better than talking to a doctor...my mother and my grandmother both have depression and were diagnosed by a doctor,so that would most likely be your most safest bet.
