Ecclesiastes 9:11
I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.

My bible reads "time and unforeseen occurrence befalls them all" which I think explains the meaning better. But, it basically means that things can and will happen that are beyond our control---Just as it says: the fastest runner won't always win the race-he could twist his ankle and lose just b/c it was a coincidence.Don't think that God's sitting around planning every second of your life out.

Statistics.
An event may happen... if you wait long enough the chance it happens will increase to a factor it actually almost just has to happen.
