I imagine that if it can be accounted for, then "unlimited" would be a reasonable guess.
If however, your best excuse would be that it belongs to some guy you only met 2 hours ago, and you don't know his name, then, no more than about 50 dollars.

I do not believe there is any statuatory limit although you would probably have to account for an extremely large amount. All banking transactions over $10,000.00must be reported by the bank to the IRS.

I refuse to carry cash unless I am going to my local farmers market. My debit card is my best friend, and it is easy to keep track of where my money went.

I'm pretty sure there is no limit. If you withdraw or deposit more than $10,000, I think your bank is supposed to notify the IRS, however.
