I've done it before, and nothing has ever happened. Also, what's the difference between showering and walking in the rain... and how come the eye doctor doesn't tell you to wear glasses or not go outside when it's raining?

You can shower, go outside in the rain, etc. You can do anything you want unless you feel like you may lose a contact, like while swimming. As far as eye health, showering has no effect one way or the other.

Well, when you shower, your purpose is to get water all over you, even in your face. Getting water in your contacts can damage your contacts or make them fall out.

I do everything with my contacts in. Sleep included. My eyes are still pretty good. Just make sure that they are clean.
