I heard avoiding alcohol is good when you want to burn fat.. but I'm a social drinker when I meet up w/ friends..either on Fridays or Saturdays.... at the same time, I want to slim down for the upcoming summer.. should I avoid it altogether if that's my goal?

alcohol basically turns to sugar as it is metabolized. sugar (or too much sugar) is obviously not good for the low calorie diet. i'd stick with the lite beer (keep the quantity down) and stay away from mixed drinks (they usually have mixers which contain more sugar and calories). hope the pounds shed easily.

I agree about cutting back or even cutting your alcohol intake in half, there are many calories in beer and mixed drinks. Being fit is about being healthy and having discipline. It all depends how badly you want to reach your goal.

Try to avoid it all to geather. My dad went from 5 to 2 six packs a week, and lost 20 pounds.
