I dated bad boys for a long time and now I am finally with a nice guy. He has his vices sure but I am much happier with him then I ever was with your typical bad boy. I think the bad boy thing is a phase and most women eventually get over it. It just takes some maturity and figuring out what it really is we are looking for.

They do want a nice guy, but they want the excitement of a bad boy. Until all the fun is over and it's time to settle down. Guess who they end up with?

They are looking for a nice man as a future mate to have a family and children with and that will love them and be there with them, however, if they aren't ready for all that, they want a playmate, thus the attraction to the "bad boy"

I think this is a throwback to when we were cavemen.
Instinctively women are drawn to gruffer, more dominant men because evolution teaches them that A: they will produce physically better offspring and B: their family unit will have protection by the big strong male.
Emotionally women want the nice guy who will make them feel good and treat them right.

I think lots of us want a guy that can be a bad boy but mostly is a gentleman and can be a teddy bear at heart - we just dont want a wuss or "too good of a guy" like a goody goody - i wouldn't date someone who i thought couldn't keep up with me if i wanted to go out and have fun.

It's an attraction to what the monkey part of their mind identifies as the alpha male. Primal psychology applies with a lot of human situations like that. It's just a matter of observation.

Hell no...I'm sorry I DO NOT WANT A BAD BOY. I am single and will keep it that way until I MEET "THE ONE". I dont care if he is muscular, potent with pole sized dick- I wont waste my time with a "bad ***" piece of ****. My self-esteem is too high for that.
I also agree with XqueenX on an sexual selection perspective.

the bad boy is wanted in the short run, its alluring. if she is a quality girl she will eventually find out that the nice guy is the one she really wants
