I would put him is preschool instead. You don't want him to learn the kindergarten curriculum before he starts kindergarten. He will get bored. It like learning German before you take a German class. 3 years olds should go to preschool 3 times a week no more than 3 hours a day (4 years olds 4 days, 5 year olds 5 days). Many Montessori programs offer this option. Good luck!

How old is he right now, or how old will he be when the next school year starts? If he'll be at least 4 then I think Head Start is a good thing. Our kids need every bit of education they can get, and I think that kids who go to head-start or some other form of pre-school do better once they get to Kindergarten. Some kids start kindergarten without ever having been in a group setting where they learn things, and it's too much for them. If he's only going to be 3, wait a year and enjoy that much more time with him.

Your 1st kids will be 3 in less then a month and he is your first of 5 wow you are busy. Ya put him in preschool. He is to young to go to the actual "Head start" state funded preschool. But there is a home based preschool and they will even pre enrollo your other kids. It will help you to learn how to teach them too. Cuz girl you got a l-o-n-g road ahead.

yes. Headstart will be a good learning experience for him as well as give you a little time to adjust to the idea of his starting school in another year.

My son learned so much at headstart that when he started kindergarten he was ready and his teacher was grateful for that.

well it depends on how old he is and what your child care needs are.... I wouldnt put a child under 3 in any program unless I needed to for work. If he is over 3 then a few hours a day to boost socialization skills and become prepared for Kindergarten wouldnt hurt at all..

It wouldn't hurt to let him have some independant time away from mom each day. Once they pass 3, they're keen to start doing things "myseff" anyway! :)
