People on my last question said that I just have to have faith. No, I don't. It does not make any sense to live your life like a roulette game. Why is it so hard for religious people to understand that you make your own choices. There is no omniscient guy in a robe pulling strings on 6 billion little puppets.

It seems to me that faith is what keeps religion from falling apart. They kinda say "well I know this doesn't make sense, but if you have faith it becomes truth". In that way faith is sort of like mind control.

Hello bc_munkee.. :)

I used to be an atheist..so I can understand where you are coming from..

There was a time I used to feel and think the same way..but ever since Jesus came into my life..I want to help others..feed the hungry..clothe the needy..visit the sick and also those in prison..

We all should care about others and if that seems wrong to some..then so be it..For I am happy knowing that if I can help, even if it is in just some small way..

It does not matter what faith someone may be, even if they have none..My hearts desire is just want to help to try and stop poverty, suffering, hatred, hunger, greed..

Is it so wrong, to bring a ray of sunshine into someones life.. :)

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ..

Actually you practice faith all the time.

When you sit down on a chair in a cafeteria, you put faith in the support that the chair would hold you up. When you go through tough times, you had faith that you'll get through it somehow. Then faith in some people, at least. Faith in friends and children. This is generic faith

Faith is not a bad thing. We live by faith. If we don't live by faith, we would be ranting all about. And all those without faith are called doomsayers.

Your precaution is on what they call "blind faith." For your information, the Christian faith is not blind faith as some may put forth. I am against blind faith. It is foolish, stupid and lazy. When you experience the Christian faith, you know because you will by that time experience reality deep inside your being, your human spirit. There is not only outward evidences or signs, but inward as well. And you cannot be more certain of the fact than by these proofs.

Faith in a god and/or religion makes you feel better. It feels nice to believe that there is someone watching out for you and to feel like you're not alone, even if you really are. However, it may be bad, because it may be abused by a certain religion (like the Catholic church in the medieval ages) for control of the population. It's not really a roulette game as much as something to fall back on in case other stuff in your life falls apart. By the way, the three main religions (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity) all preach that God granted us with free choice and doesn't control us (however, he somehow knows what we're going to do and can try to manipulate us).

There is no real evidence for a god, but we can probably never prove that there is not. I think people can believe whatever they want, just as long as they don't hurt anyone and they are happy about it. However, I just don't like people pushing their religion onto me.

Is faith a bad thing? No.

But relating to what you said in the explanation, god is not a topic that is worth debate, because whatever you do, you cannot get believers not to believe or non-believers to believe.

We BELIEVE because we don't know the reality. If we know, the question of belief does not arise. So, a belief, both for and against god should be open to be disproved rather than closed and stubborn.

But since beliefs are not easily proved or disproved, holding it is the only thing most people do. And what beliefs one holds is personal choice.

When a belief in one direction is strong enough and pure enough, it becomes faith. Faith has the ability to abstractly prove the belief, or atleast convince that it is proved. But for that, we should have faith in faith and that is what most of us do not accomplish.

God has uses just like Science, though less than Science. So, taking a mid ground is the safest and happiest option when it comes to such subtle issues.

Dear bc monkee,

"Faith" is a synonym for the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith or Christ is what every human being needs, desperately. But you see man is spiritually dead--we have NO faith. That condition came about when our first parents sinned against the Lord in the garden of Eden. Every human being from that point on was born spiritually dead!! (That includes those cute little babies also; Psalms 58). Man will remain spiritually dead unless the Lord Jesus Christ saves him/her. And incidently, you cannot choose or accept the Lord Jesus (John 1:12, 13; Romans 9:16). May I suggest you read Hebrews chpt 11 and every time you see the word "faith", substitute "Jesus Christ". Faith is not a bad thing at all, it is all we've got. the best thing to do is pick up a NIV Bible and flip thru it, read the red writing. it is just u and the bible when u do that and u can make up ur own mind instead of wanting someone to agree with u here. otherwise dont ask these questions here if u dont like the answers and if u r already set in ur ways.

Well, you don't have to have anything really. And you are the one totally responsible for your life and your choices.

Christians push faith because they believe you have to believe in order to make it to heaven. But they do not see that Jesus did away with the need for law and belief.

But faith is really just a hope for things unseen. If I have faith that I will be this or be that, then that instills a belief about the future or who I am, and what I believe will come to be.

I know that I make my own choices. I don't believe God is some chess player in the sky moving us around like pawns. Maybe part of your issues is that you haven't met religious people with intelligence. There are lots of Christians out there with varying ideas and beliefs. Maybe you're more close minded than you realize...

You can make your own choices anytime you want, but you also have to live with the consiquences of them, Jesus is not pulling strings, but our guide to make the right decisions.
" Loss is Transformative if it is met with faith. Faith is our chance to make sense of loss, to cope with the stone that rolls around in the hollow of our stomachs when something we loved, something we thought was forever is suddenly Gone."

Faith is what saved me. If you don't want to believe then stfu please. We don't care if you think the is no God. Well we care sort of. We will pray that you will learn that you are wrong but still. This was a pointless question for you to ask. You really do need to have faith.
