There is no single straightforward answer to this question.
The amount of energy used is affected by:
- the total mass moved = you + bike,
- the speed at which you cycle,
- the smoothness of the terrain - more energy is used cycling over grass or rough ground than on a smooth surface,
- whether there are any hills,
- whether the wind is against you, etc.

Bear in mind that a 300g chocolate bar takes about 5 miles of steady walking to use up! The greatest help in weight loss comes from eating less energy-food (fat, starch & sugar).

It depends. You burn more calories when you go up hill compared to down hill. It all depends on how hard you are biking.

Get one of those things to strap to yourself (they have them at Walmart) that tells you how far you went and how many calories you burned...they are cheap, just a couple dollars!!!

it depends if your on an incline and how fast you are going. go try one at a gym that has a computer and it will tell you. usually if you bie one mile thats about 100 cals.
