I know its good to eat slower and chew your food more, so that you'll realize when you are full, and not overeat. However, I find it hard to eat slow if I'm hungry or if it taste good. How could I make myself eat slower?

Depending on what your eating, take one bite at a time. If using a fork or spoon, put it down onto your plate in between bites. If you're too hungry, then you'll eat faster. Try drinking a glass of water before you eat to help fill you up. Counting the number of chews helps, if you can keep track in your head. Even if the food tastes good, chewing it slower will help you enjoy it more.

I started by buying raspberry yogurt and making sure I chewed every little raspberry seed. It would take me like 15-20 minutes to eat a yogurt...after that for awhile I had it all under control. Also drinking alot of water before you eat seems like you feel full faster. Also I learned that when you want a drink while eating your stomach is satisfied or when you sigh during eating your stomach is full....try to stop eating then. Best wishes

Pretend you are a professional food taster or food critic. Savor every bite or at least chew thoughtfully as if you were going to write about the taste and texture. Before you take the next bite, cleanse your palate with a sip of water or other beverage. Let you mouth be empty before moving on to the next bite.

savor the taste of the food, listen to some really slow music to make you relax while you eat. don't watch TV while eating

don't wait til the last minute to eat, especially if you know you need to be somewhere at a certain time. change your eating schedule.

eat more smaller meals, so you don't have that large plate full,

if that don't help, pretend you don't have any teeth, since it takes longer to eat without teeth.

good luck

Force yourself to take a drink of water between bites with your fork hand. It interjects a lot of extraneous motion, slowing the process down immensely. You have to set down your fork, reach for and grab the glass, drink, put it back; then take time to pick up the fork for the next bite. Plus, all that extra water you're drinking will fill you up faster.

Between each bite put the food (if its sandwich or burger) down, count each chew try and chew each bite 20 times. If your using a knife and fork put them down between bites. Try and form a rhythm to your eating and eating habits. You could also try drinking a mouthful of water between bites.

you eat slower by realizing that your food is right there in front of you and isn't going anywhere. take your time when you eat so that you may enjoy your food. also if you eat too fast it is a possibility that you may choke, plus you over eat when you eat too fast so slow down.

EAt with people you like to talk with. Talk a lot! That way the meal goes slower, and you have interesting conversations! It might help to drink lots of water between mouthfulls....

Try using chopsticks instead of a knife and fork. They require more concentration and smaller bites.

Also, break your meal into courses- start with a salad, take a break to sit and chat, then go into the main course. People who start their meals with a soup or salad usually consume 10-15% less calories overall.

I make myself read a really interesting magazine or book during lunch. I have to juggle the food and turn the page every so often so it slows down my gobbling!
