if it wasn't the for the military, people would not feel safe enough to sleep well...As in, you would be worried all night that evil men would break down your doors and assalt you, but because the military is there, we keep the foreign invaders at bay and you are safe.

In order to preserve the freedoms that most people enjoy, there has always been a small cadre of people, men and women, who were ready to stand up and do violence for their country. Soldiers understand that they may be called upon for the ultimate sacrifice, but as a general rule most are willing to do just that, although they would prefer not too. It also describes the fact that because of this small cadre, the majority of the people in a country can slep comfortably in their beds knowing that they will be protected from the harsh realities of doing violence on their country's behalf.

By the way, George Orwell didn't say that quote. In his essay on Rudyard Kipling (1942), Orwell wrote: "[Kipling] sees clearly that men can only be highly civilized while other men, inevitably less civilised, are there to guard and feed them."

People can rest easy because the military is protecting them constantly. By having a military presence in America that is ready to go to war and protect everything we stand for, it allows the citizens to relax and have peace of mind that someone will stand up for them if needed.

This is a tribute to all men and women who have answered the call to duty in the Armed Forces of the USA in order to keep this country safe from it's enemies foreign or domestic. And, there are a whole bunch of domestic enemies in this country that need to be taken down!!!

A soldier is prepared and trained to do what ever it takes to insure that the normal people can sleep soundly with out worry or fear. If a soldier is required to fight he is sent instead of that civilian for the same reason... A Soldier does violence not because he/she wants to but because it is required...
