You'll need to take (and fluently learn) several languages. Add political science courses, and some psychology and anthropology wouldn't be amiss either. Your best bet is to try for an Ivy League school. You'll also need to get some connections in upper political circles, so start working on interning with your congresspersons.

Well, you could either learn to spell or learn to use a spell checker. That would be a good start.
While you are in high school, concentrate on getting good grades so you can get into a good college or university. Study languages if you can -- you should at least have a basic ability in French, and given the way the world is evolving, either Chinese or Japanese would be helpful. Make sure you are conversant with the major points of history -- actually, a history minor isn't a bad idea for diplomatic work.
As to what colleges to look at -- write away for the syllabus from a number of colleges, or ask your guidance counsellor at your school.

definitely head in the political and government direction. you should take intern jobs that deal with this career path, such as a job within your local and/or state government (there are those opportunities) over the summer.

obviously, the ivy schools are the main places to go if you want to be a diplomat, but there are also a lot of good non-ivy league colleges, such as georgetown (b/c it is so close to DC so the opportunities abound)

Take political science classes...and maybe psych and sociology ones, too.

You should learn languages. I'm not sure of the rest.
