Losing 20 pounds in 40 days is not healthy. Also, when you lose weight to fast, you have a higher chance of gaining it back...plus more! You should not lose more than 2 pounds per week.
If you are looking for a healthy diet to team up with your exercise, contact me with your email address, I will gladly give you a diet based on Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem (unfortunately, yahoo answer's email system doesn't have enough "characters" to allow me to send the diet through them). You can do it yourself at home. You won't need to measure anything or count calories. It is all already proportioned. It involves all food groups and is based on 1250 calories. Very healthy. I have shared it with many askers on yahoo answers.

The first answer is not so helpful. Peanut butter is unhealthy. However, exercise is extremely helpful to lose weight (although probably not as fast as you want to). You should run an hour every other day, giving your legs a chance to rest. On your rest days, you should do some light weight training for an hour, because that helps with toning and with weight loss. By working out all of your muscles, you stand a better chance of losing fat. Also, eat healthy foods; I'm sure you know what those are. Basically, eat three meals a day, with proper portions of dairy, wheat, meat, and vegetables. Skip the junk food, except to give you a reward once a week or so.
Don't go on the fad diets. They may help you lose weight in the short run, but you will gain it back quickly. Also, they are not healthy. By the way, fastest and easiest do not necessarily mean healthiest, and your health is the most important part.

Yes. Jog for a hour each day in a sauna and don't eat anything but peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. Skip the jelly if you can.
Response to Reverend R below:
If losing 4 lbs a week is acceptable, how is losing 20 lbs in 5 weeks 5 days unhealthy?
And yes, my answer was meant to be facetious.

The fastest way is high protein, very low carbs, less than 20 grams per day, walk at least a mile everyday and a very light supper if anything in the evening. I do best by skipping supper. I lost 50 pounds real quick like that.

Wow, that's TOO much for your body, even if you are used to some exercise...eat healthy (no fast food or junk food), eat foods that fill you up without the weight gain...steamed veggies (especially cabbage, YUM) is good, lean meats, etc and get some kind of exercise daily, but switch it up to keep it fun for you so you can continue with your goal...go for walks, jogs, bike rides, rollerskate/rollerblade, swim, clean (don't laugh, it does burn calories!!!), etc. and you might find yourself doing 2 or 3 physical activities a day because it's fun!!! Good luck, and PUHLEASE don't take any diet pills...they are SOOOOOOOOOO bad for you!!!!

Jogging is really good but to shift your weight quicker, swimming is the best option because if you just stand up in a pool waving your arms use use nearly all of your muscles, when using your muscles you burn fat and calories really quickly. Try to swim at least 6 hours a week. Good Luck! :)

Jogging for that long would be a huge help. But if you weren't counting calories the margin between weight loss and possible weight gain could be eaten up very quickly.
Don't starve yourself, just keep track so you don't snack

The key to loosing wieght is consume less calories then you burn. You can do this by eating less or healthier or by exercising, but for best results you should do both. Remember that you can't starve yourself for the rest of your life so there is no reason to do it as a diet. The only way to remove wieght and keep it off is to change the way you live.
