Why is there such a big movement in many Christian faiths against gay people? I can understand the movement against abortion, as Christians see abortion as murder, but what is the big deal about being gay? Sure, if you interpret some parts of the Bible a certain way, being gay is a sin. But if you interpret other certain parts of the Bible (particularly the Old Testament) a case for slavery can be made as well. The points that the Bible is definitive about (such as the 10 commandments or the seven deadly sins) make no mention about being gay as far as I can tell. If people get so worked up about such minor points in the Bible, why not get worked up about the major ones. There is no apparent Christian outrage against adultery (which would break one of the 10 commandments) or being fat (gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins), so why be so outraged at gay people?

that's why sometimes if someone asks my religion...i am often hesitant to answer "Christian"...i don't agree with views...and a lot of Christians will say that I am not Christian because of this...i do not see anything wrong with being gay...i think some people hide there small, unaccepting minds behind a veil of religion just as others hide behind sheets.
**oh, boy am I going to be hated on here.

Being gay is organic and it truly is not undesirable. there are a impressive form of individuals who can not comprehend it because it does not note to them, there are those who're ignorant and merely favor some thing to blame to make themselves sense extra effectual, and then there are those who really easily do not care. What concerns on the appropriate of the day is even if you are able to doze off feeling reliable about what you've performed. popping out is scary because you in no way comprehend who will be supportive or who will take the acute opposite. So when you're able the position you are able to not preserve your self if the more severe occurs, you need to maintain up and performance that set up as a protection information superhighway earlier you do. contained in the recommend time, I quite recommend looking a gender therapist. They comprehend and are comfortable to the concerns and subject matters glbt(and ect) go by and perchance can help you workout recurring what you want and the thanks to get there.

The bible says nothing about gay or homosexuality, it says SODOMY IS A SIN and we should not allow them to live among us.
Deut 23:17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.
Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
The thing is that these sins seem to propogate themselves and the sinner wants new companions so tries to convert others.
We also don't want thieves, liars, or any other sin running rampant among us. The Bible doesn't mention crack, why don't you want to live next to a crack house??

I dont understand it either. I think its because they want to keep the gays at arms length because if they really took the time to get to know one they might like them and have to question their faith. I think deep down they know there is nothing wrong with it but they are too lazy to question their doctrine. Basically they are bullies and want everything their way. The most extreme want a new social order, thats why they talk about "materialism" all the time - unfortunately the new social order doesn't include gays.

Because Christians only have the brain compacity to bash one certain group of people at a time!!! Or maybe because it's the sin that they themselves have committed and don't want anyone to find out! Ever hear that saying "He who protests too much"!!!

I don't know. Maybe it's because if they say homosexuality isn't a sin then they will have to re-think their view of scripture and its authority, and not taking it all literally. Also, it's easier to look at the world in black and white and say that everything is either right or wrong, no in between.

Because man puts words in God's mouth. Just like you see in this section everyone has their own interpretation of the bible. Therefore if it does not say, then don't add to it. God look at your heart if you truly love Him, its not by what we do or don't do whether we overeat, overdrink, overeact, overdo whatever the case may be. Bottomline God looks at our hearts not our actions.

Because they aren't gay, so gays make an easy target for their self righteous hypocritical BS. The same religious nuts who bash gays often jump into bed with anyone who walks along, or whack off to porn everyday.
- not that those things are bad, but it's hypocritical.

Because straight guys are made very uncomfortable by the thought of two guys going at it. Instead of live and let live, it is easier to get on a high horse and persecute.
