Yes that is true. It's also true of humans. It's called "pheromones". Infact, Bees communicate with eachother through movement and pheromones alone.

My dog had a different smell whenever he went to the vet. He also seemed to shed real bad, almost like the hair would just fall off while we were there.

I think you mean that about humans. Not dogs!!! They are the ones that pick up the smell that you put out.

you might be referring to the fluid in their anal sacs. Not all dogs, but some dogs, when they get scared will release this fluid which smells really foul. Most dogs release it when they defecate, but some dogs will have to have their anal sacs released by a vet if this doesn't happen, if not they can get impacted and infected.

A really frightened dog may urinate or defecate on himself and may also express his anal glands - that stinks and smells horrible. It's a signal to other animals that he's terrified and doesn't want to be killed.

Yes it is tru. They squirt out anal sac juice which smells kinda bad.
When their scared the anal sac will contract and juice will come out that smells.
However the dog has to be really scared.

Yes! Its true they do release a certain odor. Its called queef. It only happens when they get really really scared. The only time one of my dogs ever did it, is when she was struck by a car and ran home. As soon as i picked her she queefed.

It's part of the fight or flight response. Their scent becomes bad to make them seem unpleasant to eat.
