My long-haired 6 month old dachshund is having a neuter surgery. I am curious if anyone noticed a chance in their dog's temperament, behavior, etc. after his neuter surgery.

Well, he won't be all, trying to join the girl dogs, he'll be more calmer and mature. When he first gets neutered, he'll be very weak, and sleepy. But once he's healed, he'll be more mature. And most of the unwanted behavior like humping will be gone. Don't let him lick the spot too much. Could get infected

He will be slower for a day maybe two then back to normal.
If you were having probelms with marking territory that will hopefully stop. As will the urge towander looking for a mate. He will be the same dog just ahppier now that his mind is not all on reporducing all the time. He may be better with other dogs and a better pet.
Doxies are fiesty and I am sure he will stay that way.

He'll move a bit slowly for a few days, but afterwards will be good as new. The behavior won't change much, but having him neutered will prevent a lot of unwanted behavior.

he might move around a bit slower for a few days, i mean he just had surgery, but then he should go back to his usual self, except he most likely won't have strong sexual urges anymore. After i had my chihuahua neutered he was more hyper than before, but that was just my dog.

My dog recently went through that stage. They will be in pain. They want to be love. Do not be to rough with them. They will sit or lie around. There is nothing wrong with that. My poodle through up. That is normal, unless they throw up blood or really frequently throughout the day. Once they get through this dowsy stage, they could get mean for a little while, because of the pain.

we have a rottweiller, when he was 11/2 years old, he was fixed, our vet told us that he probably wouldn't change much until after 2 or 3 years old. he is hyper around other people and other dogs, we thought he would mellow out afterwards, but not so! good luck!!

He will sleep for the first day. They just lick a bit, I didn't notice any significant changes in him.

yeah he'll be logy for awhile but that's about. Baby him while you can. Breaks me heart to see my pup with no balls. I know it's the responsible thing to do but it just bothers me to change him for essentially what is my benefit. it's just not right !

He'll try to lick his stitches, but that's about it.
